Spotify’s goal is to become the world’s leading audio platform, and the Studios organization -- including The Ringer, Gimlet, and Parcast -- drives the strategy to build and acquire engaging podcast content in support of this mission. The Studios Analytics team partners with the Studios organization, developing strategic insights to drive decision-making and further Spotify’s global content creation and acquisition efforts, with a specific focus on analysis of user listening behavior, content valuation, business planning, and visualization.
We are looking for a Data Scientist specializing in communicating through data visualization to help generate and communicate insights in support of Spotify’s original podcast strategy. You will use Spotify's vast amount of data to deliver impactful dashboards, visualizations, and tools that help illustrate how users are engaging with podcasts on Spotify. Additionally, you will help craft the future vision for how the team communicates and works with partners across the company. The Studios Analytics team produces several of the most-used dashboards at Spotify, and we are looking for a specialist to take these tools to the next level.

What you'll do

  • Design, build, maintain, and iterate on a suite of dashboards and tools that surface insights and track metrics measuring the health of podcast listening on Spotify.
  • Perform analysis on large sets of data to extract meaningful insights that will help drive Spotify's podcast strategy.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and other insights teams to communicate data-driven insights and recommendations to key partners through clear visualizations, presentations, and self-service tools.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and analytics engineers to design datasets and metrics to measure podcast engagement on Spotify, helping build the analytics layer of our team’s data environment to make data standardized and easily accessible.
  • Set the standard and elevate others to build efficient data pipelines and impactful visualizations and dashboards.
  • Contribute to the broader analytics community at Spotify by setting high-quality standards and methodologies.

Who you are

  • You are passionate about data visualization.
  • You have a high level of expertise with data visualization tools or libraries (Tableau, D3.js, Shiny, Dash, Looker, or similar tools).
  • You're a compelling storyteller who can communicate complex topics in succinct and inspiring ways to a variety of audience types to influence decision-making.
  • You possess a good command of SQL and command of at least one scripting language (e.g. Python/R/JavaScript).
  • Familiarity with data engineering concepts in production and at scale a plus.
  • You enjoy mentoring and teaching others.
  • You have an online portfolio, or PDF that you can share with us. Applications without a portfolio are unlikely to be considered.
