The Role

We are looking for Junior Data Scientist to join our team and assist in the development and implementation of data-driven solutions. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in statistics and programming and be proficient in R and Python. Additionally, this person will have experience with SQL (specifically AWS Athena / Presto), GitHub (CI/CD), time series forecasting and statistical modelling.

The Junior Data Scientist will work alongside our Data Team to help develop, maintain and analyse our data infrastructure.

Key responsabilities

  • Develop and maintain statistical models for data analysis and forecasting
  • Collaborate with senior data scientists to implement data-driven solutions
  • Assist in the development of data infrastructure, including data processing, cleaning, and management
  • Perform ad-hoc data analysis and support business initiatives with data-driven insights
  • Develop and maintain data visualisations to communicate insights to stakeholders
  • Utilise GitHub for version control, Continuous Integration (CI), and Continuous Deployment (CD)
  • Collaborate with other teams to gather requirements and ensure data quality and accuracy
  • Conduct thorough statistical analysis and generate reports to support data-driven decision making
  • Continuously monitor, maintain, and improve existing data processes and models

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, computer science or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong proficiency in R and Python programming languages
  • Experience working with SQL and familiarity with AWS Athena / Presto
  • Knowledge of Digital Marketing
  • Client-facing experience showcasing data science projects
  • Experience with GitHub, specifically version control, Continuous Integration (CI), and Continuous Deployment (CD)
  • Strong foundation in statistics and statistical modelling, including time series forecasting
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred skills

  • Experience with machine learning techniques and algorithms
  • Experience with data visualisation tools.
  • Knowledge of data governance and security best practices
  • Some degree of Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP
