Job Description

Research Analyst, Program Research, CNBC

The Research Analyst will be responsible for regular reporting of TV audience metrics to multiple departments within the company – Programming, Marketing, Public Relations, and Finance – and collaborate with members of the larger NBC News Group Research & Insights team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret viewership data for recurring reports and ad hoc requests
  • Provide support in the creation of in-depth reports on NBC News Group linear shows and competitive programs, synthesizing information from multiple data sets
  • Assist in designing, fielding, and analyzing the results of primary research studies (e.g., surveys, dial tests, focus groups)
  • Maintain CNBC program lineups using Nielsen’s Content Link system

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in media/business or a quantitative area of study (e.g., mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, or computer science)
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Superlative communication skills, written and verbal
  • Deductive thinker with the ability to integrate key insights from multiple sources
  • Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Expertise using Excel and PowerPoint

Desired Characteristics:

  • 1+ year of experience in audience research for a media company or advertising agency
  • Experience working with Nielsen systems (e.g., NPOWER) and other audience measurement tools
  • Knowledge of and interest in TV
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for audience research and interest in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies
  • Experience using data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Domo, Looker)
  • Ability to manipulate, visualize, and combine data with tools and languages like SQL, Python, and R
