Amazon is looking for passionate, talented, and inventive Software Development Managers to help build industry-leading search technology.
Our team's mission is to create the next generation of search infrastructure and science that will provide a delightful experience to Amazon’s customers.
You will manage internationally recognized experts to develop large-scale, high-performing systems that will integrate with the state of the art in search, information retrieval, natural language understanding, graph neural networks, and other machine learning techniques. Your work will directly impact millions of our customers.

Basic Qualifications


  • PhD in engineering, technology, computer science, machine learning, robotics, operations research, statistics, mathematics or equivalent quantitative field
  • 1+ years of building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application experience
  • Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
  • Publish papers in top tier conferences and journals in their respective fields

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of applied research experience
  • Hire and develop junior scientists

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $222,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
