Supernal is at the forefront of creating emerging mobility solutions that will foster the development of human-centered cities. We are designing a completely new electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft tailored to the mobility needs of future cities. What we do:

The University and Government Relationship engineer is a liaison between the Chief Technology Office and university / government organizations for the coordination of research activities. This individual is responsible for driving partnerships with key stakeholders throughout the business to support in established activities at colleges/universities. The position also works closely with the legal department to develop Intellectual Property (IP) strategies. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in aerospace-related technologies and building successful internal and external partnerships.

What you can do:

  • Coordinates and helps prioritize research and development relationships and activities between Supernal and colleges/universities and government research centers
  • Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives
  • Communicates with collaborators, obtains collaborator engagement to ensure the end-products or processes will solve the business problems
  • Finds opportunities for collaboration between the university and government organizations
  • Supports in writing proposals for research projects that involve both the university and government organizations
  • Supports existing relationships with colleges/universities and talent partners
  • Builds and establishes roster of focus schools for Supernal to make long-term R&D investments, ensuring R&D investments are spread throughout the company’s focused communities (i.e., DEI, community outreach, aviation schools of excellence, new schools of innovation, etc.)
  • Crafts R&D research strategy using technology surveys and finding out the capabilities of universities and government laboratories
  • Partners with Talent Acquisition (TA) on university technical recruiting strategies for attracting, training, and hiring exceptional, diverse talent
  • Develops university Intellectual Property (IP) strategy in partnership with legal
  • Develops opportunities to host, sponsor, or conduct information sessions for potential relationships and organize/participate in Supernal-sponsored events and activities to develop industry and community contacts
  • Manages and abides by internal procedures and resources to ensure proper recording of engagements to meet outreach and partnership goals
  • Other duties as assigned

What you can contribute:

  • Bachelor’s degree in physical sciences or engineering related field
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience working with universities or government agencies, and conducting research in the aviation field (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
  • Established record of partnerships with large-scale groups, organizations, and educational institutions
  • Ability to influence diverse groups of collaborators and engage potential partners
  • Broad understanding of aerospace technologies and their applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proactive delivery of communication and follow-up
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints

You may also be able to contribute:

  • Master’s or PhD preferred

Base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for a bonus as part of total compensation.

The pay range for this position is:$166,400—$232,960 USD
