Lead Data Analyst

Pathpoint is looking for an extraordinary Data Analyst to join our fast-growing team. 
In this unique role, as our only dedicated analyst, you’ll report to the CEO. You’ll lead the effort to help us identify problems across the organization and make decisions with our data and your insights. In short, you will be critical to our teams to make the right decisions. You’ll organize, query, and present data in dashboards that help us track the effectiveness of our decisions and products while also uncovering new problems and opportunities to attack. 
We want to build out our data function more over the next 24 months and are looking for the person that will enter as an individual contributor and over time bring on additional data capabilities. 
Prior Data Analysts at Pathpoint have gone on to lead entire departments. We believe that teams and departments ought to be able to partner with a world class data organization but also be able to stand on their own, at times. Therefore, we envision our analysts going on to not just embed in departments, but also lead critical projects and functions themselves and have long tenures as senior leaders at the company. This role is a unique opportunity to have an outsized impact on the future of the E&S industry.

What we look for:

• 3+ years of experience in a data science, data analytics, business intelligence, or data engineering role at a technology company or the equivalent background in an technical analytical function (consulting, investment banking, product management)
• Excellent SQL skills
• Experience or familiarity with dbt
• Experience with Salesforce data a plus but not a requirement (just a desire to learn)
• Experience managing a small team a plus but not a requirement
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple work streams
• Ability to work with minimal oversight
• Strong communication, including written, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt quickly solve challenging and often unexpected problems
• Investigative skills
• Technical aptitude and the ability to pick up new software and systems quickly
• Knowledge of the insurance industry is not required nor expected, but could be a nice to have

What you'll do:

• Define and build out the data function at Pathpoint.
• Figure out what data our teams (exec, sales, product, etc.) need in order to build better strategies and make better decisions.
• Support monthly and quarterly board reporting and board meeting deck creation.
• Put in place the tools and practices necessary for culture that applies data day in and day out.
• Create and maintain operational and KPI dashboards.
• Work with Engineering to make sure we have the right analytical and data infrastructure; maintain or partner with engineering.
• Influence Pathpoint’s product offerings, marketing and sales operations, and overall strategy based on yours and others analysis.
• Become a domain expert in the business of excess and surplus lines insurance.
