Machine Learning Platform Lead

With our success over the past 10 years, we are ready to move beyond our current technologies and build the next generation ML Platform to align with our current business needs as we continue to grow. Currently using a custom setup, we handle 1.5 billion ML inferences per second, every day. We are now building a new ML platform to support neural networking in order to increase the intelligence of our models. We are looking for a strong, hands-on tech leader who is able to guide a team through building and utilizing this new ML platform.

As a Machine Learning Platform Lead:

• Lead an experienced team of ML, Software, and Infrastructure Engineers that will build the next generation ML platform for Liftoff
• Utilize the new ML Platform to deliver business results via next generation ML models
• Drive ML cost optimization for training and serving ML models
• Utilize vendor-based products (AWS SageMaker, Databricks, etc.), open-source technologies (PyTorch, xgboost, etc.) and in-house tooling
• Work with modeling techniques at the state-of-the-art of probability prediction, as well as a multitude of other ML areas (NLP, Computer Vision)

Desired qualities and experience:

• 10+ years of industry experience in machine learning, software engineering and/or infrastructure engineering
• 5+ years of industry experience applying Machine Learning to large scale problems
• 3+ years experience leading an engineering team
• Hands-on experience building Machine Learning tooling and/or platforms
• Very strong coding ability (any backend language)
• B.S. or higher in Computer Science (PhD is a plus)

Location:

This role eligible for full-time remote work in one of our entities: CA, CO, ID, IL, FL, GA, MA, MN, MO, NJ, NV, NC, OR, RI, TX, UT, and WA. We are a remote-first company with US hubs in Redwood City, Los Angeles, and NYC.

Compensation: 

Liftoff offers all employees a full compensation package that includes equity and health/vision/dental benefits associated with your country of residence. Base compensation will vary based on candidate location and experience. The following are our base salary ranges for this role: 

SF Bay Area, NYC, Los Angeles/Orange County: $177,000 - $280,700
Seattle/Olympia, Austin, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Boston: $159,300 - $252,630
All other cities and towns in our approved states: $150,450 - $238,595
