Modern Intelligence is seeking exceptional recent graduates and other early-stage researchers to join the team as an AI Research Assistant and contribute to Modern’s in-house research program. You will work closely with the AI research team leads on a wide variety of topics spanning computer vision, NLP, few-shot learning, model optimization, business intelligence, and more. This position is full-time and is based in Austin, Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Search and discovery of open-source publications and datasets relevant to research program initiatives. 
  • Perform exploratory data analysis and engineering tasks such as data cleaning, imputation, normalization, outlier detection, and design ML framework data loaders.
  • Design and perform experiments across a wide range of machine learning topics in collaboration with other research team members.
  • Build presentations, dashboards, and visualizations to effectively communicate key data insights and trends. 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in a scientific discipline
  • Excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team
  • Proficiency in coding, statistics, and data science (Python, R, Pandas, scikit-learn, etc.) 
  • Strong understanding of ML experimental design and statistical inference
  • Experience with data visualization tools (matplotlib, seaborn, plotly), dashboards, and Jupyter notebooks
  • Must be available for full time employment for a minimum of 6 months

Deeper Qualifications

  • Proficiency in at least one popular Deep Learning framework (e.g. Tensorflow or Pytorch)
  • Experience in working with popular toolkits for NLP and/or computer vision (Hugging Face, spaCy, timm, torchvision, etc.) and experiment tracking (MLFlow, Tensorboard, wandb, etc.)
  • Experience in working with relational databases (e.g., SQL)
  • Proven publication experience including academic conferences, whitepapers, blog articles, and verbal presentations. 
Pay Range/Benefits:-$65k - $75k depending on experience -Full health, dental, and vision insurance -Free lunch
