Senior Data Scientist – Kroger Precision Marketing  

Kroger Precision Marketing (KPM) powered by 84.51°, is a leading retail media advertising solution. KPM closes the loop between media exposure and store sales by using first-party purchase data to make brand advertising more addressable, actionable, and accountable. Launched almost five years ago, we have activated campaigns for over 1900 brands. We are a growing team of passionate and talented analysts, data scientists, marketing consultants, and media strategists who are committed to transforming the media industry. 

As Senior Data Scientist – Kroger Precision Marketing you are joining a community of analysts, data scientists, and software engineers who work collaboratively to drive business value via our rich first-party data. Data Scientists focus on using scientific methods to develop sciences to solve current business problems. These roles pair backgrounds in mathematics and statistics with strong business acumen and experience working with large datasets and relational databases. You will be hands-on using the full suite of 84.51° technical and visual tools – Python, Spark, Azure Databricks, Tableau, Excel, SQL, Power BI (and other internal tools) to create timely, relevant, and actionable insights.  

Responsibilities:  

  • Become familiar with our data assets, measurement techniques, QA processes, and overall analytic capabilities
    • Interpreting results and developing actionable recommendations from robust 1st party data to build relevant customer stories for key stakeholders
  • Leading and managing projects, tasks, and stakeholders to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget and to brief specification
  • Quality Assurance of own code and that of team members to ensure the highest quality work is being delivered to our clients
  • Identifying opportunities for standardization & automation of existing solutions and processes to enable 84.51° to realize the maximum potential from our teams
  • Assisting with development of junior analysts and new team members on media measurement, results delivery, KPM-specific skills, and analytic techniques
  • Work on innovative data science projects, ideation, and methodology work to enhance our media planning, optimization, and measurement science offerings
  • Collaborate with other research teams at 84.51° to vet application of advanced science techniques within the media business
  • Utilize your media data science experience to influence and drive advanced machine learning solutions into our platform and products. Think creatively when building science solutions to bring the most value to the user

  Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s degree or MS in statistics, mathematics, analytics, economics, marketing, or related discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in ad technology, digital media, and/or advertising analytics
  • Strong Python skills plus 2+ years of experience extracting and manipulating data from large, disparate data sources using big data and cloud technologies (Azure, Hadoop, Spark, Databricks and/or similar technologies) 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including excellent verbal, written, presentation and consultation skills 
  • Data visualization skills and ability to present technical solutions to non-technical audience.
  • 2+ years hands-on experience building and working with machine learning solutions. Ideally partnering across software engineering and product management teams to develop and scale new algorithms, features, and enhancements
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Strong business acumen to link analysis to business impact (grocery and/or retail experience is a plus)
  • Natural curiosity that welcomes and embraces change and willingness to try new things and to fail.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Salary to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and alignment with market data. In addition to salary, this position is also eligible for commissions. Base Range for Colorado: $104,650 -$157,750.
