Job Overview

As the Hardware Integration Engineer at TuSimple, you will work with the Hardware Engineering team to support build and customize vehicles in our autonomous driving fleet. This role will also  support the outfit of vehicles ranging from passenger cars to SUVs to tractor trailers. Identify, escalate, and resolve issues with R&D build processes and contribute to the completion of critical projects.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot system issues that arise during the build phase
  • Support and troubleshoot the initial system power up and configuration
  • Use problem solving skills to resolve issues and escalate when necessary
  • Support and development of new electrical and mechanical R&D prototyping.
  • Ensure that all vehicles are built to meet requirements
  • Contribute to R&D development and repairs of builds
  • Ensure that safety protocols are followed and identify potential risks
  • Document any deviations from engineering documentation and report to relevant body
  • Development of prototype electrical harnesses inside and out the vehicle
  • Development of new troubleshooting procedures for maintenance department use.

Experience & Skills - Required

  • Associate’s degree with 5 years of experience required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred. 
  • Electro-Mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to comprehend technical documentation
  • Manufacturing, assembly experience to include PCB rework, crimping, soldering and harness production
  • Experience with hand tools and general power tools
  • Electrical prototyping and troubleshooting debugging sensors, microcontrollers
  • The use of CANbus tools and applications
  • Experience with vehicle control integration
  • Camera, lidar, radar, IMU calibration, verification and installation
  • Root cause analysis solution oriented 
  • Startup environment experience
  • Autonomous vehicle electrical architecture knowledge, including sensor suite and electrical wiring.

Experience & Skills - Preferred

  • Blueprint reading
  • Electronics installation experience
  • Experience with fabrication

Salary Range: $78,000 - $107,000
