The Insight and Analytics (I&A) department at the Telegraph consists of Data Scientists, Researchers, Digital Analysts and Insight analysts.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Analyst to join our Product Analytics team. The Product Analytics team has a wide ranging remit at The Telegraph. From focusing on our new Telegraph Puzzles and Wine Cellar products, or analysing new page templates on the website and app, or discovering improvements to the marketing mechanisms driving subscriptions growth.

As a Senior Data Analyst, you will be responsible for analysing complex data sets, conducting AB test analysis, and developing reports to support our stakeholder initiatives. As well as contributing to the wider Insight & Analytics team you will work in cross-functional working groups including product managers, MarTech developers, and designers to drive data-informed decisions to optimise the performance of our products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product managers to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop data-driven strategies to improve performance. Developing dashboards and reports to monitor product performance and provide insights to stakeholders.
  • Conduct deep-dive analysis on complex data sets, identify trends, and generate insights that can inform product development decisions.
  • Work with engineering teams to design, develop, and implement data tracking solutions to collect and process data from our products.
  • Take on AB testing initiatives from start to finish, working closely with developers and stakeholders to define the boundaries of the test and summarise the learnings effectively.
  • Proactively sharing knowledge with the wider Insight and Analytics team and broader business, ensuring the democratisation of data and insight.
  • Act as a mentor and coach for more junior analysts within the team.

Requirements

  • Strong SQL skills that will be required on a daily basis to achieve the ambitions required of The Telegraph.
  • Experience of web analytics tools. Adobe Analytics experience preferred.
  • Experience with building dashboards and visualisations in BI tools (e.g. Google Data Studio, Tableau or similar).
  • Knowledge of data exploration tools and techniques, with a track record in delivering data, insight and analysis that demonstrably increase performance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - critical thinking is a must.
  • Experience with AB testing analysis with clear understanding of considerations when conducting a test using Adobe Target.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, moving beyond the client/supplier relationship to business partner and helping set successful growth strategies and proactively identify new opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly across different audiences and varying levels in The Telegraph.
  • Clear evidence of building collaborative relationships across multiple business divisions to deliver solutions.
