Corporate Development, Applied Research and International (CDARI) is SAIT’s face to industry. Our instructors and staff are passionate about student and instructor success, in an environment that values applied academic excellence, teamwork, collaboration and driving innovation. Our non-credit courses are aligned to industry and designed to meet the needs of employers today and in the future.
The division centralizes and supports industry clients to develop customized non-credit corporate training for their employees and take their innovative product and process ideas to market locally, nationally and internationally. Within CDARI sits a number of support functions including Business Operations, Continuing Education, International, Corporate Training, Applied Research, and Business Intelligence.
SAIT is looking for Data Analytics SME to support the build of a course focused on Data Science Experience Accelerator within CEPS.
The course will present students with a project based environment to hone their skills with Data Science techniques and technologies with a focus on real industry problems.
The design of the course will focus on providing hands-on exercises and projects to help accelerate our students transition into industry roles.  The hired adjunct instructor will be responsible for the following:Prepare lessons, lectures, assignments, quizzes, exams, lab activities and lab demonstrations for learners if applicable given the course outlineShow personal interest in the learner and create a climate conducive to optimal learningWork directly with a multidisciplinary team to produce high quality content for learnersAttend all SAIT training as requiredAchievement of School initiatives and ObjectivesBe an active and engaged member of the SchoolAdhere to all safety legislation, guidelines and safety standards as requiredMaintain contact with relevant industry sectorsAll other duties as required for the position

Qualifications

  • Required:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Data Science and Analytics
  • A bachelors degree or masters degree in Data Science, Data Analytics, or equivalent
  • Relevant technical industry experience within the last six (6) months
  • Experience and fluency with Office 365 (MS Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with videoconferencing technology (MS Teams, WebX, Skype or Zoom)
  • Fluent in English reading and vocabulary
  • Comfortable speaking to the public
  • Positive & respectful attitude
  • Ability to read, interpret and deliver specific curriculum
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to organize and present written information

  • Desired:

  • Preference to background within Adult Education
  • Training and knowledge of adult learning fundamentals
  • Experience with curriculum development or instructional design
  • Previous teaching experience preferred
  • Experience with a Learning Management System (Brightspace, D2L, or Moodle is an asset)
  • Formal training or education in facilitation or teaching
