Data Engineer II, Data Science Platform

We are looking for a passionate data engineer to join our Data Organization. As a data engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering our data platform from the ground up. This role will cross collaborate across the business to design, develop and continuously improve the data infrastructure, pipeline and applications to collect, track and monitor various formats of data to enable data-driven decision and growth at Dave.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, deploy and deliver data platform solutions
• Architecture design, prototyping, proof of concept, code and module design, development and testing, deployment, maintenance, monitoring, and debugging
• Work with the Data Science team to develop and launch machine learning models
• Maintain and optimize existing data pipelines and data assets along with creating new ones
• Work with Data and other engineering and product teams to ensure a reliable, scalable, and robust data platform, enable and assist Data and other engineering teams to build applications and solutions to meet business specifications and needs
• Document structure and processes
• Introduce industry best practices and new tooling to the Data team

What You'll Need

• 2+ Years of Software Engineering Experience with strong CS fundamentals and problem-solving skills
• Python, SQL
• Cloud Experience
• Docker/Containerization experience
• Excellent development and communication skills

Nice to Haves

• Typescript/Javascript, shell scripting
• Non-relational/key-value databases (NoSQL); experience with cloud-based data warehouse solutions such as Snowflake, Bigtable, Bigquery, Redshift
• Familiarity with cloud solutions/toolings (e.g. Dataflow,  Dataproc, BigTable, BigQuery, PubSub, Vertex AI in GCP or equivalents in AWS/Azure)
• Kubernetes
• CI/CD and Terraform; previous operation experience with solution deployment and monitoring
• Workflow management/automation tools such as Airflow
• Experience with distributed processing systems, such as Apache Spark and Apache Beam; streaming processing; experience building backend services is a plus
• Experience with financial datasets
