Job Description

We are looking for a Head of Data Quality Standards to become a highly influential member of our organisation – working across our business to embed a common approach to measuring, reporting on, communicating, and constantly improving data quality. 

About the role

As the Head of Data Quality Standards, you will play an important role in communicating to senior stakeholders in Wood Mackenzie and to customers on how we measure, maintain, and promote data quality. The role will work with the Data COE Leadership, domain segment groups and horizontal capability teams that are responsible for the ownership, reporting and improvement roadmaps. You will demonstrate how we are constantly improving the value of our data, challenge decisions on priorities, seek alignment and opportunities for increased or new customer value.

This is a leadership role, accountable for ensuring stakeholders across Sales, Product, Business Segments, Technology, and Consulting are bought into our approach to quality, endorse the agreed upon criteria, and understand the progress our teams are making against our quality goals and commercial aspirations. You will ultimately establish a business culture, maturity and literacy around Data Quality which will demonstrate real customer value.

Qualifications

  • Champion and lead the ongoing development of our Data Quality framework, describing requirements of customer/product use cases, aligned to ACV growth
  • Gather feedback from key stakeholders, actively engage with the business to ensure the framework is understood, adopted, and evolved
  • Work with teams to define clear and measurable metrics which follow the common framework. Embed consistently defined ownership, standards, Governance, and controls
  • Facilitate collaboration, or appropriate coordination of improvement projects. Target priorities and capacity where it makes the biggest impact
  • Enable the teams to build appropriate skills, knowledge and focus to prioritise Data Quality, improve and communicate consistently
  • Ensure teams develop and own data quality reporting and dashboards that clearly set out the current state and gaps against validated targets
  • Identify and define the need for any central resources to deliver the biggest impact around the key data quality goals
  • Provide challenge for operational efficiencies or cost-optimisation around how processes are managed or where resources are deployed
  • Identify solutions for new tooling or practices and embed these in our platform to drive consistent adoption with maximum impact
  • Increase observability, compliance and data lineage to ensure sources, pipelines and solutions adhere to expected standards
  • Seek opportunities for automated and analytical approaches to data quality, including Machine Learning, to support delivery at scale.

You have a passion for data quality and improving processes that increase the value of our data for our customers. You can coordinate senior stakeholders from around the business to endorse and support our data quality efforts. You are an excellent communicator – able to speak to and influence all levels of stakeholder across the business.  You can inspire our teams to strive for ever more effective practices and higher quality data for our customers.

Knowledge & experience

  • Able to articulate and execute on an engaging vision of what makes high quality data
  • Experience in working with data users (Research/Consultancy, Product, Customers, Engineering) to understand their needs and the value of excellent data quality for their analytics or delivery
  • Strong communications skills and ability to influence at all levels, resulting in tangible impacts for the business
  • Able to build strong relationships with people across all sectors and levels in the business
  • Able to work in an agile matrix organization, in a highly collaborative manner– essential as part of your work with stakeholders across the Segment and Horizontal teams
  • Experience in working within a Product and Data organisation with understanding of how technical solutions can be implemented
  • Strong interest in the Energy and Natural Resources industry with a commercial mindset
  • Desire to work with external networks to grow personal and business maturity in this area and adopt the latest technologies or techniques
