Your Role and Responsibilities
We are looking to hire senior and intermediate back-end developers into the IBM Watson Machine Learning training team.
Your responsibilities will include developing scalable and fault-tolerant service and it will span the entire lifecycle of a component, including gathering requirements, design and development, continuous integration/deployment and operations.
You will use the latest software development tools, techniques and approaches and work with leading minds in the industry to build solutions you can be proud of. You'll work in a collaborative, welcoming environment where new ideas drive technological innovation. You will work in small, cross-functional teams to bring cutting-edge AI technology to our customers.
You need to be adaptive and a clear communicator, and be able to work with researchers, data scientists, user experience designers, offering managers, and other software engineers to understand requirements, create technical solutions, and deploy them to cloud.
You need to be able to think strategically to develop long-term architectural roadmaps, while continuously delivering new features to make incremental progress.

Must be eligible/legally entitled to work in Canada
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Extensive experience building highly performant and scalable Java or Scala/GO applications
- Extensive experience with object oriented programming, multi-threading and concurrency, functional programming
- Extensive experience with building RESTful APIs and Web services
- Extensive experience with cloud technologies, such as Kubernetes, Docker, etcd, OpenShift
- Extensive experience with CI/CD pipeline tools (Git, Maven)
- Good understand of security aspects like: Authentication, Authorization, ACLs. OpenId Connect is a plus
- Bachelors degree – Computer Science or equivalent
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- At least 3+ years of strong programming experience
- Experience with Machine Learning and Python
- Experience with deploying and managing applications to IBMCloud
- Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB, CouchDb)
- Experience with developing distributed systems
