What We’re Looking For:

Cover Whale is searching for a Senior Data Analyst to join our rapidly growing Data team. This position will provide an excellent opportunity to impact multiple business areas. At Cover Whale, we rely on data to drive our systems and solutions. We are seeking an experienced data analyst to continue to help us revolutionize the InsurTech space.

Please note: This is an on-site role with the requirement to be in the office at least 4 times per week.

What You’ll Do:

  • The primary focus will be on building reports and dashboards for different areas of the business using tables, graphs, infographics and other methods to visualize data that tells a story.
  • Collaborate with team members to collect and analyze data
  • Establish KPIs to measure the effectiveness of business decisions
  • Create presentations and reports based on recommendations and findings
  • Work with executives and other business leaders to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Foster a continuous learning environment through continuously improving processes, procedures, and approaches.
  • Work with cross-functional Data teams to develop, manage, and implement products and technology roadmaps in alignment with long-term strategies.
  • Provide technical expertise, thought leadership, and architectural guidance to our Data and Engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, internal stakeholders, and external vendors to continually improve deployment and operations.


Compensation:

The Expected base pay for the role will be between $143,000-$154,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include discretionary bonus and other Cover Whale-sponsored total rewards/benefits.

Requirements

  • 5 (five) or more years of experience writing SQL and Python to query and analyze data.
  • Master’s degree in Mathematics, ML, Statistics, Computer Science, Software/Data Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience with one or more BI Platforms such as Metabase, Tableau, PowerBI, or Looker
  • Familiarity with the AWS ecosystem
  • Proficient with ETL pipelines for analytics and internal operations
  • Experience with internal APIs and integrating with external APIs
  • Effective communication skills, especially for explaining technical concepts to nontechnical business leaders.
  • Desire to work on a dynamic, research-oriented team.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Troubleshooting and debugging ability
  • Located in the NYC area


Nice to have:

  • Experience managing small teams
  • Experience with Jupyter Notebooks
  • Experience with Machine Learning concepts, python libraries and algorithms.
  • Experience in Fintech or Insurtech fields
