Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Sr. Data Scientist to join our growing team. Reporting to the Sr. VP of Operations, the Sr. Data Scientist will become a subject matter expert, defining projects and their execution. The Sr. Data Scientist will be working closely with senior leadership, manufacturing engineers and test engineers to design, develop, and deploy cutting-edge AI solutions.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field
- 6+ years of experience in AI and machine learning
- Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms
- Experience working with large datasets and distributed computing systems
- Strong coding skills in Python or another programming language
- Excellent communicator, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think outside the box
- Experience in leading complex projects and customer relationships
- Substantial experience in a data scientist role
- Experience in mentoring or training others, acting as a subject matter expert to guide colleagues
- Be a natural problem solver, able to take a lead in collaborating to resolve issues
- Have excellent communication skills and the ability to convey information clearly to a wide audience
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure AI solutions are aligned with business goals and customer needs
- Analyze large datasets to identify patterns and trends that can inform AI development
- Communicate findings and insights to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
- Stay current with the latest AI and machine learning trends and technologies
- Mentor team members and provide guidance on AI and machine learning best practices
- Act as the primary driver of analytic project and results
- Set a high bar for model development
- Evaluate and creating new frameworks and defining methodologies and governance
- Build and maintain data platform for module and vehicle test data
- Build and maintain performance dashboard
- Prepare reports, visualizations, and presentations to communicate yield and metrics with the broader organization
- Aid engineering in automating data review process to increase efficiency and throughput
- Maintain documentation related to datasets and analysis
- Develop and using tools, algorithms, and processes for data mining and data visualization to generate reports to be used in decision making

Salary Range
$115,000-$172,000
Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Physical Demands
An employee must meet the physical demands described to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. In performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely required to sit or stand for long durations of time, in addition to bending, reaching, and walking. This would require the ability to lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. This position is generally sedentary, with substantial computer usage.
Work Environment
The job operates in a professional office environment but in a manufacturing company. This job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and scanners.
