About G2’s Intern Program

G2’s Intern Program is back for the third summer, and we’re excited to have it be the biggest one yet!  You’ll be paired with an Intern Mentor who will guide you through your internship and set you up for success.  All interns will be invited to participate in  Professional Development and Social events. The Program will close with G2’s Mid-Year Meetup celebration, a global Hybrid event where you’ll be able to meet the majority of our US-based teams.  

G2’s 2023 Summer Intern Program will be Hybrid - Interns are expected to work out of our Downtown Chicago Headquarters Tuesday through Thursday.

About The Role

The data science team creates features by collaborating with stakeholders, analyzing and building a variety of data science models, and promoting those models into a stable production environment. The data science intern will develop these skills through example and mentorship from the data science manager and senior team members. 

As a member of the Data Science team you’ll be given the chance to work on a project that creates real value by extracting themes from G2’s 2 million software reviews and other datasets. Responsibilities will include:

• Using a variety of datasets, including traffic, reviews, discussion posts and search queries to  identify high interest topics in business software 
• Utilize natural language processing to analyze themes across different topics and software categories
• Create visualizations which highlight these themes and allow non-technical audiences to interact with the text and uncover new-insights 

The pay rate for this position is $23/hr.

Requirements

• A rising Senior at an accredited college or university
• Statistical programming experience (R/Python)
• Some familiarity with Machine Learning and/or NLP algorithms
• Some experience in data cleaning and statistical analysis
• Attention to detail and concern for accuracy.
• Strong Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) & Problem Solving skills
• Excellent organization skills (email, task management, follow-up)
• Self-motivated and able to work collaboratively and independently, delivering on assigned tasks and responsibilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Nice to have: experience with cloud ML infrastructure tools (AWS Sagemaker, etc)
