Who We Are:
At Brooks, we believe a run can change a day, a life, the world. Everyone who works here is a key part of our obsession to make the best running gear on the planet. We want our business — which also happens to be our passion — to be a place where everyone feels welcome and comfortable being themselves. Our company culture defines us, bonds us together, and drives our success. We live this culture daily through our brand values: Runner First, Word is Bond, Champion Heart, There is no “I” in Run, and Keep Moving. This means we always solve for the runner, do what we say we will, give it our all, are generous with our humanity, and find a way to keep moving every day, because joy is kinetic.
Are you ready to help create something extraordinary?
Your Job:
The mission of the Run Research Team is to create and leverage novel, scientific concepts and runner-driven product performance insights to create amazing products to help everyone run their path.  Utilizing the scientific method and advanced data collection hardware and software in conjunction with product knowledge, you will work with cross-functional product creation teams to collect and synthesize product performance data with runners to deliver technical running product that exceeds consumer expectations. You will be the resident expert of all scientific testing (including biomechanical, mechanical, physiological) completed in our state-of-the-art Run Research Laboratory. The primary function of the Run Performance Research Scientist II is to use their hands-on experience and expert knowledge of study design, data collection, data synthesis, data visualization, and technical product to guide the creation of technical performance running product. Additionally, you will be responsible for leading novel research projects that will advance insights into human movement and injury prevention. Other critical responsibilities include a curious mindset that will challenge the status quo and think outside of the box to find innovative solutions that advance our products and deepen our understanding of the runner. Your ideas around data collection and data visualization that allow you to quickly make conclusions about product related to human performance in conjunction with your ability to make suggestions for product improvements is a must for this role.

  • Lead human performance research projects with external academic collaborators, innovating for the runner.  Partner with our academic collaborators to further advance your understanding of biomechanics and human movement, enabling creative problem solving and identification of innovative product solutions that maximize the run performance.
  • Display an in-depth understanding of study design with the ability to modify the testing procedure in order to advance and achieve new data collection, visualization, and analysis techniques that improve the overall performance of the product.
  • Conduct research projects that relate to human performance. Use these learnings to identify product and service opportunities for the runner that will maximize running performance.
  • Own and advance data analysis for human performance research. Using your advanced experience with data analytic tools, identify and implement innovative, efficient, and visually impactful methods to analyze the influence of product on human performance data (kinematics, kinetics, muscle activity, physiology, etc.).
  • Effectively translate human performance testing results into articulate, persuasive, and actionable guidance for product improvement to ensure human performance needs are met or exceeded. Presentations will be given to a cross functional team with a variety of backgrounds, including senior level leadership.
  • Own conclusion regarding the influence of product on human performance. Using your advanced knowledge of product construction and its influence on human performance metrics, identify solutions for any potential concerns with the product. Provide your human performance go, no go conclusions with product teams.
  • Ensure on time delivery of conclusions regarding human performance research projects or product evaluations in accordance with critical calendar deadlines to enable on-time delivery of product to the market and transfer of innovation technology to inline product teams.
