Data Engineer

Definitive Logic is looking for a motivated data engineer to join our team supporting the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) and the office of the Chief Data Officer (CDO). This team directly supports the CDO and their requirements around data strategy, data quality, and date completeness as the agency works to identify missing service members from past conflicts.
We are looking for professionals who are excited about data analytics and data science and enjoy solving complex data challenges.
This position will be full-time and is part of a professional consulting team supporting digital transformation of large and complex customer asset management systems. The position provides highly rewarding working environment with numerous training and professional growth opportunities.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Guide CDO towards appropriate technologies to enhance the agency's capabilities- Proposing innovative solutions using agency's existing technologies- Improve existing processes- Manage development & support DPAA databases- Extract production data from source systems; load data into development databases- Develop database code to profile and cleanse data- Manage cloud resources - Support the development of BI dashboards- Build database structures (schemas, table, views, etc....) to support BI requirements- Execute Best Practice database deployments into DPAA environment- Work with stakeholders to identify and document data requirements- Troubleshooting date issues- Assist with requirements solicitation from stakeholders- Manage cloud resources supporting the development systems- Create and maintain AWS databases- Build AWS architecture to support development as well as proof of concepts- Monitor usage and costs

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering, Mathematics, or Business
• Critical thinker with analytical skills who is comfortable supporting collaborative problem solving in a team environment
• 5+ years of relevant experience in data analytics (analyzing data quality, health, standardization)
• At least one Database certification (MSFT, Oracle, AWS)
• Security + Certification
• 5+ years of experience with SQL programming
• Experience with RDMS (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc...)
• Database administration including backup/restore, DDL/DML, access control
• Experience manipulating/importing/merging multiple data sets including database, excel, flat tiles, csv
• Data modeling for Business Intelligence; building database views to support BI requirements
• Ability to support BI developers with troubleshooting data irregularities
• Strong troubleshooting skills (full stack - server, database, applications)
• Stong communication skills
• Some experience with cloud/hybrid systems and AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda)
• Ability to work as a team and sole depending on the task

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to obtain a government clearance
• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
• Experience facilitating working groups, requirements gathering, and tracking down data related issues
• Qlik administration
• Monitoring/Logs
• Security Rules
• Import/Export of apps
• Managing data connections
• Database development (T-SQL)
• AWS administration, implementation, and detailed knowledge of cloud architectures
• Experience with data health analysis & cleansing
