Job Description

As a Data Engineering intern in the Digital Innovation team, you will be a part of project teams developing and implementing integrated and automated data science solutions to improve efficiency and productivity in global operations. You must be an independent problem solver, and have exceptional communication and organizational skills.  You will be directly responsible for building automated data pipelines, identifying data quality issues, and conducting exploratory data analysis and simple modeling.

More specifically, your responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing and organizing raw data 
  • Integrating and processing data from different sources to build data pipeline
  • Preparing data for prescriptive and predictive modeling
  • Developing analytical tools and programs
  • Conducting exploratory data analysis and modeling to find patterns in large data 
  • Collaborating with data scientists and engineers

Qualifications

  • Current student, pursuing a BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science/Analytics, or a similar major graduating in December 2023 or beyond
  • GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Proficiency in Python, R, Java, JavaScript required
  • Detail oriented, especially sensitive to potential data quality issues
  • Curiosity, strong problem-solving skill, and timely delivery 
  • Great numerical and analytical skills
  • Candidates in the Milpitas, CA area preferred
  • Right to work in the US without requiring Western Digital to commence or sponsor an immigration case in order to employ you at any point in the future (for example, H-1B or other employment-based immigration case)
