The Revenue Acceleration Data Science team (RA) drives Shopify’s go-to-market machine with data and insights. Partnering closely with Sales, Marketing, Account Management and Support teams, RA guides key business decisions to bring more Shopify to more merchants, with a specific focus on larger brands.

As a Senior Data Scientist, you’ll help shape business decisions directly impacting Shopify’s revenue through collaboration and experimentation with technical and non-technical stakeholders. You’ll mentor other data scientists and operate as a technical guide for the team. Responsibilities:

  • ​​​​​​Proactively identify and champion projects that solve complex problems across multiple domains, with a special focus on Marketing
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Sales, and other business leaders to influence product and program decisions with data
  • Apply specialized skills and fundamental data science methods (e.g. regression, survival analysis, segmentation, experimentation, and machine learning when needed) to inform improvements to our business
  • Design and implement end-to-end data pipelines: work closely with stakeholders to build instrumentation and define dimensional models, tables or schemas  that support business processes
  • Build actionable KPIs, production-quality dashboards, informative deep dives, and scalable data products
  • Influence leadership to drive more data-informed decisions
  • Define and advance best practices within data science and product teams

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience within commercial operations guiding business decisions in Marketing, Sales, and/ or Account Management domains to drive KPIs such as revenue and profitability. 
  • Proven expertise in designing and running experiments (i.e. A/B Testing), as well as non-experiment inference techniques.
  • Experience building machine learning models (e.g. propensity models, recommendation system).
  • Strong Python and SQL skills. 
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated track record of guiding projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring other data scientists.
  • Proven track record creating data product strategies, shipping data products, iterating after launch.


It would be great if you had:

  • Experience setting up experiments in large, B2B and/or SaaS commercial organizations
  • Previous experience working at a large technology company
  • Track record in marketing analytics, marketing attribution and budget optimization
  • Exposure to CRM tech stacks
  • Experience deploying machine learning models into production
  • Familiarity with advanced machine learning frameworks
  • Analytical consulting experience
  • Experience data modeling: designing and building building data pipelines and driving ETL design decisions
