A key focus of that mission is to empower the 465,000+ monthly active artists using Spotify for Artists with self-serve marketing tools. Creator Promotion is the organization focused on providing audience development tools to creators in Spotify for Artists. 
Machine learning will play a critical role in the success of our products. Spotify has a strong ML community and mature ML infrastructure, Creator Promotion has started its journey this year and plans to increase the investment in 2021. 
We are looking for an Engineering Manager who has ML experience to hire and build up the team, mentor and coach our ML engineers, guide them on their career growth and advise on our ML strategy across all of the products. You will guide the ML engineers to build and serve models to predict complex user behaviors in collaboration with business leads, product managers and data scientists across multiple products. We would also leave space for you to stay hands on and contribute to building ML solutions.

What you'll do

  • Build, lead, and serve an effective team of ML engineers through hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development.
  • Work with different product teams to distill a holistic ML strategy for the tribe 
  • Advocate for and implement engineering best-practices 
  • Partner with other leaders as we craft and evolve an agile, learning organization.
  • Nurture a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with our values.
  • Provide leadership to other efforts that fit your passion and Spotify's needs at the intersection of other product areas, business units, and across Spotify.

Who you are

  • You have previous industry experience with the application of machine learning  and scaling such models to hundreds of millions of users.
  • You have developed ML or tech strategy for a team and seen it to its success.
  • You are passionate about creative machine-learning-driven products.
  • You love developing and growing engineers. You thrive when developing great people, not just great products.
  • You are passionate about teamwork and collaboration, while coaching and mentoring software developers to deliver timely, high-quality software.
  • You strive to cultivate a healthy engineering culture in an iterative, agile environment.
  • You don’t mind getting into the weeds in complex engineering efforts and can drive delivery while maintaining a happy & productive team.
  • You can communicate complex concepts to your  less ML literate partners in Tech, Product, Design and Insights.
