Job Description

As part of the global Operations & Technology organization, the Data & Analytics team (D&A) is focused on data and analytics strategies for the future. We support NBCU’s vast portfolio of brands - from broadcast, cable, news, and sports networks to film studios, world-renowned theme parks and a diverse suite of digital properties. We take pride in providing NBCUniversal with data to advise and shape strategic business decisions.

The Data & Analytics (D&A) team at NBCUniversal is looking for a passionate Data & analytics expert who’s looking to build the next generation of data analytics solutions while working with internal stakeholders, data engineers, visualization experts, data scientists, and other technologists across one or more of our main subject areas.  The Data & Analytics Lead role is right for you if you’re a subject matter expert in designing end to end analytics solutions and can maintain the fine balance of business acumen and deep technical knowledge.   • Gather reporting requirements from business stakeholders and convert them into technical solutions that give the users access to the data in a format that highlight actionable insights
  • Evaluate business value, manage the prioritization and execution of enhancements and projects, including communication to key stakeholders and coordination of work effort within internal IT teams, and the business community
  • Interface with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources using cloud-native data engineering principles
  • Design, build, and scale data pipelines across a variety of source systems and streams (internal, third-party, as well as cloud-based), distributed/elastic environments, and downstream applications and/or self-service solutions
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
  • Implement the appropriate design patterns while optimizing performance, cost, security, and scale and end user experience
  • Build visualizations that tell a story, making the best use of the canvas and leverage intuitive layouts 
  • Work with key stakeholders to ensure quality and integrity for products delivered
  • Act as a subject matter expert in the design and recommendation of analytical methodologies and approaches

 

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive experience in solution development & building of data and analytics products
• 5+ years of experience with Data Engineering, SQL, and data discovery/analysis platforms in a capacity supporting Data & Analytics products
• 3+ years of experience in a business-facing analytical role and a proven track record of related success
• 2+ years of experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, MSTR, SSAS, etc.)
• Direct experience with data modeling, ETL/ELT development principles, cloud development, and data warehousing concepts
• Direct experience with Cloud native technologies, data modeling, ETL/ELT development principles, and data warehousing concepts
• Knowledge of data management fundamentals and data storage principles
• Experience in building data pipelines using Python/SQL or similar programming languages
• Demonstratable experience in Airflow, Luigi or similar orchestration engines
• General understanding of cloud data engineering design patterns and use cases 
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, Quantitative Economics, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related quantitative field.


Desired Characteristics
• Analytical – You have experience in delivering self-service analytics solutions that promote data discovery
• Experience with AWS, Snowflake, Python, Airflow, GCP, Big Query, or related cloud platforms a plus
• Experience moving on-prem technologies to the cloud is a plus
• Media-focused - Strong working knowledge of media including broadcast TV, digital, and mobile (specific experience with TV Distribution a plus)
• Communicator – You have excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate ideas effectively across all levels of the organization, both technical and non-technical
• Action-oriented – You're constantly figuring out new problems and are regularly showing results with a positive attitude, always displaying ethical behavior, integrity, and building trust
• Strong understanding of Agile principles and best practices
• You’ve dealt with ambiguity and can make quality decisions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Strong understanding of Agile principles and best practices

This position is eligible for company-sponsored benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
