Team Summary

Visa Consulting and Analytics (VCA) is Visa's consulting division, serving Visa's clients (including card issuers, acquirers and merchants) and solving their strategic problems focused on improving performance and profitability. Drawing on our expertise in strategy consulting, payments, data analytics, marketing, operational and macroeconomics, VCA drives high impact and tangible financial results.

The individual will be part of VCA Data Science geographic team cluster of Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar and Cambodia (IPVMC) markets, and will be responsible for driving data science engagements with Visa's clients in the cluster and supporting end-to-end delivery. The team is involved in a comprehensive range of consulting services and solutions to our clients, that address unique challenges in areas such as strategic growth, profitability, risk management, digital strategy and portfolio management.

What a Data Science Sr. Manager, Visa Consulting & Analytics does at Visa:

The Data Science Sr. Manager will be a member of VCA Data Science team in Asia Pacific and will report to the Head of Data Science overseeing the IPVMC cluster. The position will be based in Visa’s Singapore office.

The individual will be accountable for supporting and driving the design, development and implementation of analytics-driven strategies as well as high-impact solutions for Visa clients. He/she will bring in deep expertise from banking and payments with a strong background in data science to solve complex problems and unlock business value.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare client proposals and project plans, identify dependencies, roles and responsibilities, scope and deliverables of data science engagements
  • Define detailed scope and methodology, design and create solutions, execute on the framework leveraging appropriate tools and techniques
  • Lead project execution and delivery, ensuring best-in-class solutions to problem statements and positive feedback from client/stakeholder teams
  • Lead client presentations and discussions, communicate findings and recommendations to appropriately, drive deployment and implementation of solutions
  • Develop trusted relationships with client senior executives and data science leads through impactful data driven engagements
  • Ensure consistency, standards & quality control of data science work, with all project documentation up to date
  • Actively seek out opportunities to innovate by using Visa’s data, client’s data and non-traditional data fit for purpose to the needs of our clients
  • Enhance existing data science techniques by promoting new methodologies and best practices in the field
  • Promote thought leadership in the data science domain and build intellectual property through innovation
  • People management – mentor and supervise data scientists in the team
  • If required on a per-project basis, work onsite for a short duration

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

What you will need:

We are looking for a motivated, analytical minded individual with a track record of using data science and analytics expertise to unlock business value. A successful candidate should have accumulated a variety of industry experience, be curious about payments industry and application of data analytics, should be results-driven and client-centric.

• Degree in Quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Operational Research, Computer Science, Economics, or engineering or equivalent experience. Masters or Ph.D. would be an advantage.
• Minimum 8 years of professional work experience involving analytics, data science, statistics and/or related fields
• Experience and deep analytical expertise in applying statistical solutions to business problems
• Hands on experience with data analytics/programming tools such as SAS/Salford SPM/Hadoop/R/SQL/Python/Hive, and a working knowledge of Hadoop ecosystem
• Proficiency in statistical techniques: Neural Networks, Gradient Boosting, Linear & Logistic Regression, Decision Trees, Random Forests, Markov Chains, Support Vector Machines, Clustering, Principal Component Analysis, Factor analysis, etc
• Demonstrated experience in planning, organizing, and managing multiple and concurrent projects with diverse cross-functional stakeholders
• Strong internal team and external client stakeholder management with a collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible style, able to work effectively in a matrixed organization
• Excellent presentation and storytelling skills, including strong oral and written capabilities
• Willingness to travel 30%+


What will also help:

- Strong understanding of Payments and the Banking Industry including Consumer Credit, Consumer debit, Small Business, Commercial, Co-Brand and Merchant
- In-market experience and/or knowledge of local language and culture as well as regulation and industry trends
- Strong hold on MS Excel and PowerPoint

The role is flexible to be based between Hanoi and HCMC.
