This Subsurface Data Manager role provides the opportunity for someone with subsurface data management and analysis experience, as well as strong technical capabilities in and around subsurface database technologies and a geosciences support background, to assist the client with critical data management strategies in support of the subsurface business areas. We are looking for someone who is passionate about the power of data to inform critical business decisions. Working knowledge of subsurface data and subsurface data management processes are of great importance for this role as are the technical skills as outlined below.

Role Objectives

With a background in geosciences, these individuals will be supporting geoscience technical data and applications such as Recall, OpenWorks, and other petrotechnical application suites. The focus will be on building and supporting processes that perform data transformation, develop data structures, ensure the accurate representation and storage of metadata, understand data dependencies, and is able to improve performance and optimization of workflows surrounding the subsurface data applications.

Requirements

Required Business Skills

  • Working experience with E&P data stores such as OSDU, PPDM, and similar 3rd party solutions such as the products from SLB, Landmark, P2, etc.,
  • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment,
  • Possesses an understanding of technical data management and business applications (such as Recall, OpenWorks, Oil Field Manager, etc.) and can give support to staff to properly manage the data across these,
  • Understands how to assess data quality from data source to data destination,
  • Has a skilled understanding of the principles and practices involved in the development and maintenance of Data Management solutions.

Desired Skills

  • Has a passion for data,
  • Geosciences background. Awareness of some or all of the following E&P data types: LAS, DLIS, ASCII, WITSML, SEG-Y, etc.,
  • Petrotechnical application awareness,
  • Monitors data quality and consistency for data and its metadata,
  • Actively applies standards, develops new common operational procedures and standards, and shares those with the global technical data management community,
  • Familiar working with Kanban and Agile processes to manage multiple tasks,
  • Ability to troubleshoot data quality and reliability issues,
  • Understanding and use of different database structures,
  • Ability to troubleshoot data quality and reliability issues,
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure stack.
