Machine Learning Engineer - Sensor Fusion

The Sensor Fusion team is seeking a hands-on machine learning expert for research, design, and development of cutting-edge technology applied to the field of driver assistance and automated driving. In this role, you will be responsible for design, implementation, documentation, and presentation of novel machine learning techniques and applications. You will be working closely with the development team to turn the latest research into automotive products for Mercedes-Benz, to evaluate approaches in diverse scenarios and to deploy robust and safe learning-based approaches.
Job Responsibilities:
- Work in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high quality software which will be integrated into test vehicles
- Work on research topics through multiple phases related to machine learning solutions for autonomous driving: data analysis, experimentation, proof of concept, tuning and validation
- Contributing to the overall architecture design of automated driving systems
- Work closely with a proactive, highly motivated engineering team to bring future generation autonomous driving solutions to Mercedes-Benz products worldwide
- Writing patents and scientific papers and engage with the scientific community
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors, Computer Science, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Math, Statistics, or related fields
- 3-5 years of experience
- Ability to work with Linux-based systems and command-line tools
- Strong programming and software development skills (Python/C++)
- Hands-on experience with implementation, analysis and updating machine learning and AI algorithms in real world products
- Deep understanding of machine learning fundamentals. Ability to keep up with the recent advances in the field, understand its ramifications, and apply it to the betterment of our products
- Ability to quickly and effectively evaluate approaches, diagnose issues, and propose solutions for statistical data analysis and machine learning techniques (e.g. Regression, Classification, Clustering, Time series, Deep learning)
- Ability to collaborate effectively and pro-actively in international and cross functional development teams
- Excellent communication, especially written, and organizational skills
- Very strong interest and passion in machine learning, data science and related fields
- Experience with ML frameworks such as Tensorflow, PyTorch, and Keras
- Understanding of ML workflow: preparing data, implementing and training ML models, evaluating results, deploying inference on different platforms
- Valid Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in one or more of the following areas is a plus: autonomous driving, perception, sensor fusion, or planning
