As ATB’s next Managing Director Data & AI Platform, you will spearhead the launch and operation of our internal AI-Platform-as-a-Service offering for our analytics and research communities. You would lead the team to gather customer’s technical needs and the business drivers, synthesize it into a multi-quarter technical product roadmap and anticipate / manage expectations of stakeholders in the company. You'll also be responsible for bringing in the best practices in machine learning from the field. In general, you are able to provide sound methods and identify key results to support strategic decisions. Ideally, you have excellent communication skills, and you can work effectively and efficiently with everyone from fellow analysts to business partners.

Build the Data & AI Vision and Strategy

  • Working with the Vice President & Head of Data & AI - build the vision, strategy and roadmap of Data & AI Big Bets that ATB should invest in to drive meaningful impact for ATB’s Customer Experience, and improved internal decision making.
  • Maintain a clear understanding of ATB’s Corporate Strategy
  • Research Data & AI competition, industry, and market trends to identify threats and opportunities
  • Assess the Enterprise strategic performance as it relates to Data and AI objectives and work with internal stakeholders to align processes, resources-planning and department goals with overall strategy.
  • Support senior executives in making effective decisions
  • Work with communications and the Data and AI operations manager to effectively communicate related Data and AI strategic objectives to key stakeholders.

Build and Maintain a state of the art Data & AI Platform

  • Build new Data & AI technologies, services, and platforms for areas such as TensorFlow, H2O and PyTorch to name a few, to power ATB’s data product offerings.
  • Accelerate time to impact on new technologies through experimentation, prototyping, and strong execution.
  • Have a clear pulse on innovations across the broader Technology, Innovation and Engineering community and help us identify new opportunities and look around corners.
  • Identify and track key success metrics for the Data & AI Platforms.
  • Work with management to prioritize business and Data & AI platform needs
  • Drive adoption of the Technology, Innovation and Engineering teams engineering mindset by adhering to defined architectural, DevOps, and ITSM processes.
  • Explore and define new process improvement opportunities
  • Support the goals and objectives defined by the Data and AI governance team to mature Data and AI governance through appropriate platform design, architecture and operations.
  • Present ongoing reports and findings to management and business partners
  • Integrate the Data & AI platforms with existing Big Data and Analytics platforms
  • Engage directly on all aspects of building the platform – GPUs, cloud, network, performance, scalability, architecture, build, implementation, operation and optimization

Develop a high- performing, highly engaged team

  • Develop and execute Talent strategies in accordance with ATB’s People and Culture practices, including hiring pipeline, continuous learning, succession planning, and ATB’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Set SMART objectives for the team and individual team members, and ensure they are clear and continuously communicated and understood
  • Manage performance by conducting performance reviews on a regular basis, deliver ongoing feedback on performance issues, provide recognition and praise to motivate the department and development of individual performance plans.
  • Communicate effectively through sharing information with teams in a timeline manner, collaborate and share information across other groups within ATB, and create regular forums for sharing information among the team.
  • Effectively manage capacity through prioritization and delegation of work
  • Track and report on progress toward goals and completion of work within target deadlines
  • Take action to support teams through delivery challenges, through stakeholder management, dependency management and problem solving.
  • Manage operating and investment budgets within set allocations and in accordance with methods and processes defined by Finance.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, or other related field
  • Strong leadership, persuasion and teamwork skills. Execution experience to drive multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication skills: ability to translate robust analytics and metrics into simple to understand takeaways, and comfort creating presenting findings to management and business partners
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with key product partners
  • A strategic thinker who can help craft plans to multiple stakeholders.
  • A collaborator who can work across operating styles and can bring together multiple perspectives.
  • Strategic planning expertise, the ability to lead change, and the dream to operate effectively within a dynamic organization
  • Strengths in meeting objectives through influence, facilitation and team building
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to collect organize; analyze significant amounts of information and massive datasets (expertise in SQL, Python)
  • Technical expertise in data mining: statistical distribution, missing/outliers data statistics, segmentation, regression, A/B testing, hypothesis testing, etc.
  • Experience with GCP, Big Querry, Kubernetes, TensorFlow
  • Experience developing analytic products, technologies, and platforms
  • Experience building new AI/ML technologies
  • 10 years in a senior management role, with jr. executive level change or transformation leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of industry leading data quality and data protection management practices.
  • Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection.
  • Knowledge of data-related government regulatory requirements as well as emerging industry trends and issues.
  • Demonstrated consulting skills with change management concepts and strategies, including communication, culture change and performance measurement system design.
  • Knowledge of risk data architecture and technology solutions.
  • Internally and externally recognized subject matter expert who effectively influences the way things are done.
