Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the leading provider of cloud computing services, providing IT infrastructure offerings such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services and more. We are looking for a talented, innovative, and well-connected individual to be responsible for artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) public policy issue tracking and engagement in priority international organizations including: World Economic Forum, the OECD (AI Observatory), the G7/G20, and the Global Partnership on AI.


You will become familiar with all aspects of AWS’s AI/ML business, interface directly with relevant business units and technology and services teams at AWS, and address risks and advance opportunities for the business through your advocacy and policy work.

Reporting to the Director, AWS Global AI/ML and Canada Public Policy, you will work with a dedicated and talented team of people to achieve important business goals. You will work directly with regional Public Policy colleagues, business leaders, support teams, and customers to develop and execute effective government affairs and public policy advocacy strategies to protect and advance our interests before key international organizations.


You will achieve goals using a variety of tactics including direct lobbying, facilitating high-level meetings between AWS executives and key stakeholders, managing consultants, working through trade associations, building coalitions, and more.

The position will be based in Ottawa, ON or Montreal, QC.

Basic Qualifications


· A bachelor’s degree
· At least 8+ years of experience in lobbying and public policy.


Preferred Qualifications

· 6+ years of experience representing a large company or association, preferably but not necessarily in the Internet/tech industry, before policymakers
· Experience should include deep understanding of legislative and policymaking processes.
· A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in a relevant discipline (Political Science, Public Policy, Engineering, etc.). An advanced degree is preferred.
· Strong knowledge of and background in advocacy and public policy development pertaining to information technology-related (IT) issues such as an “innovation agenda” and public sector policies such as cloud computing, government IT management reform, IT infrastructure/applications, renewable energy, procurement and contracting, information assurance/cyber security, IT services, and corporate compliance.
· Highly effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at the highest corporate and government levels.
· Maintain highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality and integrity, with strongest professional reputation in the industry.
· Self-starter with proven track record of successfully working with a wide array of functional groups across an organization.
· Ability to identify and understand key technical aspects pertaining to corporate operations in legislative and regulatory proposals, understand business implications, and synthesize policy documents for internal and external customers.
· Ability to influence, negotiate with, and persuade others is required.
· Must be flexible and demonstrate strong judgment/decision-making skills, and political acumen.
· Demonstrated ability to build and foster effective relationships and networks with others.
· Fluent (speaking, writing & reading) in English.
· The ability to travel based on business need.
