Team Overview

Luminar Technologies is seeking a Senior Perception Algorithms Engineer to develop Luminar’s lidar perception software.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work with a talented group of engineers to develop automotive-grade software for Level 2-4 autonomous vehicles functionally based on Luminar’s LiDAR platform.
  • Work on core perception algorithms 
  • Contribute to perception function architecture
  • Align with customers on perception requirements and implementation
  • Work on perception algorithms that can control Luminar’s unique lidar platform
  • Demonstrate and test perception algorithms in customer vehicles
  • Develop sensor fusion algorithms for LiDAR, IMU, and other modalities.
  • Collaborate with System Engineering on safety critical perception system design
  • Implement algorithms in Modern C++ (C++11 and up)

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Computer Science and Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong background in mathematics, linear algebra, and statistics
  • Background in computer vision, image processing, or signal processing
  • 5+ years of industry experience, or 3+ years of relevant work experience with an MS
  • Experience with computational 3D geometry.
  • Extensive experience writing production quality code, including experience with C++
  • Experience in working in Agile teams and in process development, such as JIRA
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to motivate others, drive collaboration, and quickly resolve conflicts
  • Enjoy working within a dynamic and continuously evolving environment
  • Able to work successfully in cross-functional teams, especially across organizational and geographical boundaries

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with GPU CUDA programming
  • Experience with ROS
  • Experience with Python
  • Experience with designing and development software in accordance with functional safety standards like ASPICE and ISO 26262
  • Open-source contributions
  • High energy personality, with a strong and demonstrable work ethic
  • Demonstrate out-of-box thinking to develop creative solutions to challenging problems

At Luminar, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays a base between $142,000 and $199,000* per year. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. You will also be eligible to receive other benefits including: equity in the form of restricted stock unit awards, comprehensive medical and dental coverage, 401k plan, life and disability benefits, flexible time off, paid parental leave, and tuition reimbursement for formal education related to advancing your career at Luminar. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire and schedule type.

*Note that the pay range listed for this position is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.
