We’re looking for a Data Analyst to join our Data Team. The Data Team is responsible for ensuring that the business has access to reliable and actionable data. This is to inform product development and meet business objectives. 
In your role, you will work with the Data Team in the Engineering Department to collect, model, and analyze data to help the company become more productive and profitable. As a Data Analyst, you will be tasked with transforming raw data into usable models, planning and assessing the results of A/B Tests, and assisting internal teams in building out their own reporting.
This role reports to the Team Lead, Data.
This is a remote role, and the team member can work from anywhere in Canada. #LI-Remote

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with project stakeholders and the data team to design and build scalable, user friendly systems for our customers.
  • Building and testing data models using SQL and dbt.
  • Debugging data quality issues as they arise.
  • Working with stakeholders like Product Managers, Product Analysts, and Developers, and supporting them with ad hoc analyses.
  • Following proper data architecture and development paradigms.
  • Discussing strategy and outlining tradeoffs of potential software solutions.
  • Performing data analysis to support external teams.
  • Participating in Scrum ceremonies.

Requirements

  • University degree or college diploma in a recognized technical, vocational or academic program (preferably in Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or Computer Science) or equivalent work experience.
  • 4+ years of working experience with SQL.
  • 2+ years of working experience with dbt (“data build tool”).
  • Experience with a cloud data warehouse (e.g. Snowflake, Redshift, Big Query).
  • Experience with a BI Tool and creating data visualizations (e.g. Looker).
  • Experience turning data into actionable insights.
  • Experience building analytical data models.
  • Able to communicate efficiently with stakeholders, both verbally and written.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working as part of a data team.
  • A background in Statistics.
  • Experience working with & assisting data consumers.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Prior Insurance domain knowledge.
  • A passion for clean, reusable, and well-structured code.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity in requests.
  • Experience in working with goal setting frameworks (such as OKRs) in measuring the progress of projects.
