Job Description

The Sales, Services and Marketing Technologies Analytics Team in Corporate IT support Visa's Business users in Sales, Services, Marketing and Product Teams in providing access to data and insights from multiple applications like MS Dynamics, Appian, custom applications.    

As a Sr. Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing Data integration and Analytics solutions on relational databases like MS SQLserver or NoSQL databases, Hadoop and use BI Tools like PowerBI and Tableau to provide insights on data. Based on deep understanding and knowledge of ETL and data engineering techniques, you will develop and maintain data and tools to provide self-service to Business users and data scientists to draw insights and build models.

Responsibilities

• Work with Business stakeholders to understand Business requirements and desired business outcomes

• Understand application data from MS Dynamics, Appian BPM, Automation Anywhere RPA and custom applications, gain functional understanding and work on conceptual design of data pipelines and Dashboards and reports

• Assist in scoping and designing analytic data assets

• Build and maintain a robust data engineering process and data pipelines to develop and implement self-serve data and tools for Visa’s data consumers and users in batch or near real time

• Build complex dashboards and reports

• Develop microservices or APIs for internal users

• Design and develop datastore for collecting metrics

• Design and develop datastore for hosting API

• Develop Product analytics and metrics from Business Process management, Robotic process automation and CRM applications

• Ensure project delivery within timelines and budget requirements

• Perform other tasks like researching new data sources, data governance, system infrastructure, analytics tool evaluation, and other cross team functions, on an as-needed basis

• Find opportunities to create, automate and scale repeatable analysis or build self-service tools for business users

• Present analysis results or insights from data to Business stakeholders 

• Support, debug, and fix issues in Production 

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• 2 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, or PhD)

Preferred Qualifications
• 3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) in building ETL pipelines using tools like Informatica, Talend, Pentaho or utilizing big data engineering techniques on Hadoop to build Analytical solutions to solve business problems
• Bachelors or Post graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Science or a related discipline with strong technical experiences highly desired
• Strong SQL and Data analysis expertise and understanding of Relational data bases required
• Extensive experience with MS SQL server, ETL tools like SSIS, Pentaho, Informatica or Talend is required
• Experience with data visualization and business intelligence tools like Power BI, Tableau, Microstrategy or other BI tools required
• Experience using FetchXML, DAX functions, building Power BI data models nice to have
• Extensive experience with SQL and big data technologies like Hadoop, Python , Java, Spark, Hive, Presto, Kafka etc. and Open source software for large scale data processing, data transformation and building machine learning pipelines nice to have
• Experience with working with monitoring and applications logs to develop product metrics and KPIs
• Experience with building microservices or APIs nice to have
• Working experience with container technologies.
• Experience working in a scrum team owning end to end solutions
• Presentation skills and good communication skills presenting insights to Business is highly desired.
• Previous exposure to financial services, credit cards or merchant analytics is a plus, but not required
• Strategic thinker and good business acumen to orient data engineering to the business needs of internal clients
• Demonstrated analytical rigor, strong attention to detail, team oriented, energetic and collaborative
