Job Description

FinanceScout24 is your Swiss digital partner for Finance and Insurance topics. With the motto “As digital as possible, as personal as desired” we developed a great range of web applications and micro services that enable customers to compare and directly contract vehicle and home insurances as well as personal credits.

As the Data Engineer at Finance and Insurance you will help us build a platform that is driven by data - where people have access to accurate data and insights to make the best decisions possible, where users get tailormade solutions and recommendations and we hear more “based on this metric” rather than “I think green is better... green is my favourite colour”. 

You will work closely with data producers, owners and users across the finance and insurance domain. Understanding the work they do and how we can support them better will be crucial for you to choose the right solution. From a technical perspective, due to the merger between Scout24 and TX Markets, we have a large number of different tools and approaches. We want to pick projects one by one and continuously improve our setup and efficiency to build a data platform we all can be proud of. 

Your responsibilities:

Responsible for data tools used across the Finance and Insurance data team and across different data domains (e.g. CRM data, GA data, etc.): 

• Develop, implement and maintain data warehouse, data pipelines, data catalogue and other tools and make them available to Finance and Insurance team (BigQuery, DBT, Looker, Atlan, Fivetran, etc) You will provide direction for complex projects and use best practice design principles,
• You will ensure reliable operation and maintenance of the data infrastructure including orchestration of the cloud infrastructure, documentation of processes and pipelines, checks on data quality and operational efficiency,
• You will set up ingestion frameworks and data contracts with stakeholders that own data producing systems, such as software engineering teams - we use Data Mesh approach,
• You will maintain a data catalogue to enable data-consuming stakeholders to discover, understand, trust and access our data assets,
• You will contribute to building and improving data products (transformations, dashboards, logical data warehouse models, etc.),
• You will help build the Finance and Insurance data platform of the future.

Qualifications

This is what you bring to the table:

• A history of best practices from your past roles as a Data Engineer (5+ years of professional experience)
• Hands-on experience with any cloud platform (GCP or AWS) in relation to data ingestion, processing, warehousing, monitoring, orchestration and modeling,
• Strong understanding of database, DWH, data modeling and data catalogue concepts,
• Strong understanding of ETL best practices, scalability, complex process management,
• Understanding of DevOps best practices and automation of documentation, testing, build, deployment, configuration, and monitoring,
• Good knowledge of SQL and good analytical skills,
• Ability to work independently and cross-functionally. 

Welcomed additional qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s or Master's degree in a related technical field would be an advantage
• Hands-on experience building data pipelines using DBT, Fivetran, etc. or any other similar tool,
• Excellent knowledge of cloud solutions, Microservices, with specific expertise in the implementation of data (ETL and ELT) pipelines,
• Industry experience in online marketplaces and/or digital businesses.
