We're a multi-award-winning digital payments platform within the automotive industry. We work with over 2,500 automotive retailers, helping drivers to pay for motoring costs, accessories and other services through a variety of different payment options.

Bumper is a fast-growing payments start-up and we’re excited to start the next phase of our growth having recently completed a successful Series A funding round. As we are expanding, we are now looking to hire a Senior Data Engineer based in the UK.

Our Sheffield office is our new HQ, with offices also based in London and Turkey. We've recently brought retailers in Germany and Spain on board, and plan to expand into the Netherlands and Portugal - world domination here we come!

A bit about the role...

Bumper is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to be responsible for data engineering capability within the Data and BI tech. Responsibilities include:

  • Work with Data Analysts, Product Owners and Business Stakeholders to understand functional requirements and interact with other team members to estimate, design and develop
  • Liaise with BI Analysts & other stakeholders to ensure the correct metrics are captured, delivered, and clearly reconciled with the source systems
  • Lead requirements gathering, develop & maintain a data warehouse, ensuring highest data quality and consistent data architecture
  • Work with team members to collaborate on feature delivery (design, code reviews testing etc), update Jira tickets, participate in delivery planning & reporting activities
  • Support existing processes running in production alongside designing, building, and launching new data pipelines from different source systems into data warehouse
  • Integration of 3rd party data sources using APIs
  • Define and manage SLAs for all data sets and work with providers to enforce these agreements
  • Code management builds and releases automation (CI/CD) using Circle CI DevOps tool as required
  • Accountable for data engineering around defined requirements, ensuring that data implementation releases are delivered in a timely fashion, and any downtime limited
  • Investigate issues and suggest fixes/solutions

Requirements

What we are looking for in you:

  • Excellent data, programming and scripting languages SQL, Python (minimum of 5 years)
  • Proven experience in Data Engineering, Data Science or Analytics
  • Experience with cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP). AWS preferred
  • Experience working with workflow management solutions, preferably Airflow
  • Experience in designing and implementing CI/CD data pipelines
  • Experience building end-to-end data solutions and pipelines
  • Experience building analytical datasets (dimensional models, DataMart)
  • Experience with Google Analytics, CRM tools
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to high standards and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask under time constraints and not compromise quality
  • Thrives on solving complex business challenges
