Overview of Role

As a Customer Engineer, you will work closely with Sales, Engineering and Customer Success teams to ensure our customers are achieving successful implementations. You will be responsible for crafting robust architectural proposals and delivering Statements of Work (SOWs) that engineering teams can successfully execute. Through your collaborative interactions with our teams and clients, you’ll have an active role in shaping our customer’s experience from start to finish.

In partnership with the sales team, you will formulate and execute a technical sales strategy to exceed revenue objectives through the adoption of the Google Cloud Platform. As a trusted customer advocate, you will help customers understand best practices around advanced cloud-based solutions, and how to migrate existing workloads to these solutions. Additionally, you will educate customers of all sizes on the value proposition of Cloud and participate in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in the cloud or on-premise as needed.

Responsibilities

This person will display relentless curiosity and drive around how we organize ourselves and deploy/use technology to ensure our customers’ GCP environments are reliable and secure. We are looking for the right fit with our growing organization and we will invest in training.

As a Customer Engineer, Data Modernization you will be involved in designing, architecting, and selling data management and engineering projects within GCP. This includes migrating, analyzing, and designing net new data workloads. As a Customer Engineer you will be tasked to liaise between clients and our professional service teams to ensure that all data requirements are met.

This position will be remote from the UK; Travel will be required depending on business needs when normal travel practices resume. 

Responsibilities would include:

  • Build a trusted advisory relationship with strategic accounts and engage with management. 
  • Identify customer priorities, technical objections, and design strategies encompassing the Google ecosystem to deliver business growth and resolve blockers.
  • Lead requirements gathering and project scoping.
  • Provide domain expertise around public cloud and enterprise technology, and effectively promote Google Cloud with customers, at conferences, and online.
  • Work with data scientists and software engineers suggest architecture around data acquisition activities, data solution ideation, and implementation.
  • Provide extensive technical, strategic advice and guidance to key stakeholders around the data utilization, organization and implementation effort.
  • Travel to customer sites, conferences, and other related events as required.

Qualifications 

  • 3+ years of experience with working within Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or a platform including Azure or AWS; GCP Preferred
  • Experience planning data modernization as a technical consultant, technical pre-sales engineer, or enterprise architect.
  • Experience in migrating legacy databases and applications
  • Experience with Data Science forward applications such as Cloud Dataproc or Jupyter Notebooks
  • Experience with Looker, Tableau, or other visualization tools
  • Experience with configuration management software such as Terraform
  • Experience with the primary managed data services within GCP, including Cloud Bigtable, Cloud Spanner, Cloud SQL, or BigQuery
  • Experience with Orchestration tools like like Airflow/Cloud Composer, CDAP/Cloud Data Fusion or other 3rd parties
  • Hands on development in common programming languages such as Python or Java
  • Cloud Data Engineer or Cloud Data Architect certification in hand or achieved within 45 days of starting at 66degrees  
  • Anything else that needs to be done that adds value to the business, our clients and your co-workers
