(Senior) Scientist, Deep Learning

Description

The Deep Learning ML scientist will envision and drive core research directions. They will work closely with an interdisciplinary team to design and implement novel deep learning solutions to problems in the biological sciences. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-paced, highly dynamic entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct multidisciplinary research at the intersection of statistics, math, and biology.
• Develop cutting-edge DL-based solutions for fundamental problems in biology and human health.
• Apply insights from working on an array of biological problems to furthering research in other ML applications and theoretical principles.
• Develop clear, intuitive visualizations. Communicate analysis results via presentations to a multi-disciplinary audience.
• Cultivate a data-centric and process-oriented company philosophy by creating and maintaining best practices for software development, data management, and infrastructure.
• Monitor and evaluate new and emerging technologies and models and identify opportunities for collaboration within Flagship Pioneering companies, academia, and third-parties.

Basic Requirements:

• PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Statistics, Math, or other related fields.
• Experience in deep learning research.
• Experience with efficient prototyping, designing experiments, and planning research projects.
• Fluency in Python and standard ML tools and packages.
• Strong publication record.
• Motivated and team oriented, with an ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial and multidisciplinary environment.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills. Must be able to think independently and work collaboratively.

Preferred Requirements:

• Familiarity with common tools: Git, cloud/cluster computing, UNIX environments, shell scripting.
• Have worked on problems in: representation learning; generative modeling; GNNs and geometric learning; category theory applied to ML; reinforcement learning.
