Withings aims to be the global leader in connected health products. We offer non-invasive medical devices that perform a wide range of physiological measurements for the prediction, detection and monitoring of chronic diseases.

We are looking for a high caliber research engineer/physicist to join our research team.

Your role

You will develop non-invasive measurement methods of new physiological signals useful for the prevention, diagnosis and monitoring of chronic diseases.

You will:

  • Understand the physiological and physical nature of the variables to be measured. Select the best measurement technique considering the cost, space and power constraints of consumer electronics products.
  • Design and carry out experiments on test benches and with human subjects
  • Design and build prototypes (mechanical, electronic, interfacing) for your experiments
  • Identify and meet manufacturers of instrumentation, electronic components or sensors required to complete the project.
  • Develop algorithms for signal processing and data analysis
  • In the product development phase, be an active member of the project team and be responsible for the correct integration of the sensor into the products and their correct industrialization.
  • Support the clinical operations team to define the calibration and validation protocols. Ensure the smooth running of the study and solve any problems related to the sensor.
  • Be responsible for the scientific validation of the developed metric.

Requirements

  • You have a PhD in physics, preferably in one of the following disciplines: ultrasounds, optics, metrology. You enjoy experimental work.
  • You are autonomous, self-motivated and able to adapt to unexpected events.
  • You like to explore, analyze, and build. You are pragmatic and resourceful.
  • You already have a solid scientific culture and a thirst for understanding.
  • You are creative and think outside the box. You enjoy experimenting with unusual approaches and working on interdisciplinary problems in multidisciplinary teams.
  • You are tenacious and have developed a results-oriented culture.
  • You will be very good at communicating your ideas and the results of your work, both in writing and orally.
  • Experienced in Python required, C experience is preferred
  • You understand the opportunities offered by data science to invent new methods of measurement; a successful data science / Big Data / AI project is a plus
  • An interest in medical applications is required
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required
