Job Description

Electric vehicles deliver a major contribution to the reduction of CO2 emission and offer a fascinating driving experience. This is defined by high power at simultaneously high efficiency of electric vehicles and is enabled to a great extent by the semiconductor devices used in the electrical traction drive. Wide-bandgap semiconductors such as silicon carbide (SiC), gallium nitride (GaN), and gallium oxide (Ga2O3) enable the fabrication of extremely energy efficient power electronics.

  • Become a part of our team and advance research on wide-bandgap semiconductor devices.
  • In our team you will design innovative novel wide bandgap power semiconductor devices for future electromobility applications.
  • Furthermore, you develop and process different device concepts based on new wide bandgap materials.
  • You characterize the processed devices with physical and electrical methods.
  • You create knowledge on the correlation of fabrication steps and electrical characteristics.
  • In adittion, you evaluate and optimize the novel device concepts.
  • Last but not least, you manage process flows, mask layouts and the characterisation of devices together with external and internal partners. Furthermore, you evaluate the achieved results with respect to the requirements.

Qualifications

  • Education: excellent Master's degree in Physics, Microsystems Technology, Electrical Engineering or similar with focus on Semiconductor Technology; a PhD is beneficial
  • Personality: innovative and open-minded, willingness to dive deep into a complex topic, keen to create something new as part of a team, motivating yourself and others
  • Working Practice: structured, analytical, conscientious, team-oriented and cooperative
  • Experience and Knowledge: sound knowledge on fundamental physics, solid state physics, and physics of semiconductor devices, experience in semiconductor fabrication, strong interest in physical backgrounds and semiconductor devices for power applications
  • Languages: fluent in English (written and spoken), knowledge in German is beneficial
