The Data Management and Vendor Relations Specialist supports the Nutrition Services and Product Teams in daily operations related to the maintenance and integrity of the food, vendor product, and nutrient data within the MealSuite system and will contribute to the success of our vendor relations initiatives. This position communicates with both internal team members and external stakeholders in the US and Canada.

Primary responsibilities included but not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain vendor relationships with food distributors and food manufacturers serving as the subject matter expert in food items, vendor products, and nutrient sources across all vendors and partners within the MealSuite system
  • Primary contact between MealSuite and food distributors related to the data integrity of the distributor’s vendor products within the MealSuite system
  • Primary contact between MealSuite and food manufacturers related to the manufacturer’s nutrient data within the MealSuite system
  • Primary contact between MealSuite and GDSN partners related to nutrient source data integrity within the MealSuite system
  • Liaison between Nutrition Services and Product Team related to system functionality and management of vendor products and nutrient sources.
  • Keep apprised of industry standards and regulations to potential impacts of system data standards and integrity as it relates to vendor products and nutrient sources and propose solutions to ensure proper change management and continued best practices within the MealSuite system
  • Keep apprised of supply chain issues and trends to potential impacts of customer operations and propose proactive solutions or enhancements to maintain optimal customer operations and best practices within the MealSuite system following proper change management
  • Assist in development and sustainment of data integrity initiatives within the MealSuite system as it relates to food items, vendor products, and nutrient sources that aligns with both MealSuite system standards, best practices, and industry requirements
  • Maintain data integrity by ensuring processes are in place aimed at identifying and/or preventing issues including both manual and automated data errors
  • Evaluate current food data to inform decisions on new product additions and appropriateness within the MealSuite system
  • Propose alternative or improved processes aimed at maintaining an intuitive system to meet the operational needs of MealSuite customers
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to resolve customer issues related to product costing and nutrient profiles


Requirements

Job Competencies

  • Broad knowledge of food commodities and supplies related to food service operations
  • Knowledge of food service purchasing processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of broadline food service distributors and vendor product attributes
  • Ability to use business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgment to resolve problems effectively.
  • Ability to recognize trends and propose solutions to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and cross-functionally with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills for managing multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Registered Dietitian or extensive experience with nutrient analysis and evaluation
  • Healthcare Food industry and/or purchasing strongly preferred
  • Experience in database and food service management systems preferred
