About the Team
We are the Conversational Intelligence Team, and we are on a mission to build the most helpful and sophisticated AI assistant for our Outreach customers. Our product, Outreach Kaia (Knowledge AI Assistant) helps our customers both during and after their meetings to be more productive across all their prospects.
As a team, we- Own features end-to-end, from the customer need all the way to the back-end implementation- Are highly collaborative and distribute technical leadership throughout the team- Iterate fast and do regular retrospectives- Function in a highly progressive, quick-iteration environment focused on delivering consistent, incremental customer value
The Role
As an Applied Scientist in the Conversational Intelligence Team you will be responsible for analyzing real-time audio and text streams from our Knowledge AI Assistant. You will build models that perform classification and extraction on both audio and text and help our customers in real-time. Help engineer low-latency and high-throughput ML systems that must scale for our growing business.
What we’re looking for: 
• Experience working with machine learning algorithms for production systems (experience with NLP, information retrieval, or dialog systems is a plus) • Exposure to deep learning (pre-training and/or fine-tuning models like BERT, RoBERTa, T5, BART, XLNet, wav2vec, HuBERT, etc.)• Strong background in statistics, and passion for data are essential for success in this role• Experience of programming in Python, Java,  Go or C++, along with strong software engineering skills• Familiarity with container-based workflows and services, like, Kubernetes• Familiarity with continuous-deployment projects• Willing to go above and beyond to help other team members• Ability to prioritize details along a path of iterative delivery• Ability to quickly ramp up new technologies and start contributing
Location: Seattle, WA (hybrid)

Your Daily Adventures Will Include

  • Working with voice streams and real-time transcriptions of voice streams to extract intelligence and actionable insights for customers
  • Analyzing the relevance of extracted intelligence, performance of the extraction algorithms, and evaluating the performance of third party voice processing APIs
  • Finding ways to engineer high availability into a system that has lots of moving parts, not all of which are directly under your control
  • Working with stakeholders to make sure our customers have the tools they need to be successful on our platform
  • Finding quick ways to prototype and test possible solutions to large problems
  • Looking across the stack for the best return on investment for any given pain point
The base salary range for this role is $180,000-$205,000. You may also be offered incentive compensation, bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. We also have a location-based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
