The role

We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our Pricing team in the Lending Organization. This is an exciting role for someone to make a direct impact on the revenue of SoFi. As a senior data scientist in our Pricing team, you will be working closely with a world-class team of business leaders and data scientists to help SoFi develop, implement, and analyze pricing strategies across our consumer lending products.

 

What you’ll do:
Strategy and Analytics (60%)
Develop and test pricing strategies across different consumer lending products that optimize profitability through the improvement of revenue, credit risk, and cost per customer acquisition;
Leverage pricing models to simulate profitability from pricing strategies and forecast changes to SoFi’s customer credit portfolio;
Build reporting pipelines and dashboards to deliver results of pricing strategies to the business.
Help manage the pricing team’s data architecture by building data pipelines to extract, load, and transform data from various sources into Snowflake 
Build intuitive and analytical models to help decision makers understand the price elasticity of customer segments;
Run significance tests and continuously discover trends in customer behavior to inform decision making with a high level of confidence;
Routinely present analyses to SoFi business leaders. 

Model Development & Deployment (40%)
Develop, deploy, monitor, and continuously improve price elasticity and other pricing related models
Leverage in-house, external, and other open-source machine learning software/algorithms
Perform ongoing monitoring of the models through construction of dashboards and KPI tracking
Interact with broader engineering teams for model deployment
Present model performance and insights to business leaders

 

What you’ll need:
B.S. or M.S.. in Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, Engineering, Mathematics or a related quantitative field is required for this position;
4-7 years of industrial experience working in the area of model development and financial services industry
Proven track record of end-to-end experience in model development, testing, implementation and performance tracking in the financial services industry
Expert knowledge of machine learning and statistical modeling methods for supervised and unsupervised learning. These methods include (but not limited to) regression analysis, clustering, outlier detection, decision trees, collaborative filtering, nearest neighbors, ensemble methods and boosting, neural networks and deep learning, feature selection, and factorization methods;
Exceptional programming skills in Python and SQL
Strong knowledge of Tableau and experience building production-level dashboards
Ability to work in a dynamic, cross-functional environment, with strong attention to detail;
Effective communication skills and ability to explain complex models in simple terms;
Strong relationship building and collaborative skills;
Exceptional problem-solving skills;

Nice to have:
Experience in building pricing models/strategies;
Experience working with product and/or engineering teams 
Experience with Snowflake & DBT  
Experience with Gitlab
