Job Description

Programming Skills – knowledge of statistical programming languages like R and database query languages like SQL 
Statistics – Good applied statistical skills, including knowledge of statistical tests, distributions, regression, maximum likelihood estimators, etc. 
Machine Learning – good knowledge of machine learning methods like k-Nearest Neighbors, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests and unsupervised like clustering 
Data Wrangling – proficiency in handling imperfections in data is an important aspect of a data scientist job description. 
Experience with Data Visualization Tools like Tableau that help to visually encode data
Excellent Communication Skills –  to describe findings to a technical and non-technical audience.
Hands-on experience with data science tools
Problem-solving aptitude
Analytical mind and great business sense

Qualifications

• B.Tech/B.E/B. Stats/MCA is mandatory. Preferred Master's degree (MBA / Statistics / Economics)
• Experience of Tableau tool (6 + years preferred) 
• Experience working with graphical logos, color palettes & visually appealing features in Tableau
• Experience with relational database concepts and query tools
• Experience in writing SQL queries to extract, merge and prepare granular and aggregated datasets for data analytics and business intelligence
• Experience guiding business partners in helping them understand their IT data systems
• Experience helping the business elicit data analytics, reporting and BI requirements
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills and abilities
• Ability to work in a rapidly changing and growth oriented environment with regularly changing priorities and developing opportunities
• Prior experience in an Insurance related field preferred
• Strong oral and written communication skills with an ability to influence and gain consensus
• Strong team player, with an ability to work in an unstructured environment and a drive to learn new skills and business processes
