• Excitement about the Altos mission of investigating cellular rejuvenation programming to restore cell health and resilience, with the goal of reversing disease to transform medicine;
• Proven ability and interest to build and lead an interdisciplinary team spanning the spectrum of machine learning to biology/biomedical research & development;
• Expertise in the application of machine learning and advanced statistical methods to diverse biological problems and data types;
• Proven track record of high-caliber scientific work, e.g., demonstrated through publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals;
• Proven track record of collaborative practical work with biologists/clinicians;
• We value expertise in the computational aspects of omics and microscopy, as causality, lab-in-the-loop, and deep learning;

Responsibilities

• Working across all Altos sites (Bay Area, Cambridge, San Diego), expand and lead a global team that applies machine learning to biological discovery and translation on projects pertaining to Altos’ mission;
• Partner with world-class biologists across all Altos sites to help design studies on cell health and rejuvenation that tap into the potential of machine learning and help generate biological insights;
• Partner with other computational scientists and leaders at Altos to develop the vision and strategy for machine learning at Altos;
• Develop and support a learning culture with the goal of forging a team that can draw on machine learning and AI to produce deep biological insights;
• Develop new statistical and machine learning algorithms for analyzing biological data to produce biological insights about cell health and rejuvenation with an emphasis on causal discovery, lab-in-the-loop and multi-modal integration.
  

Qualifications:

Expert in computational biology and machine learning with over 10 years of experience in computational biology. Typically, PhD in machine learning, statistics, computational biology or related fields.
