Duties: Product owner in software development lifecycle activities for camera and lidar based object detection algorithms and software for on-vehicle deployment, using primarily C++ skills in Linux development environment using Lean-Agile methodologies. Direct strong contributor to ensure team meets iteration goals and PI Objectives for software design, implementation, unit testing, vehicle testing and deployed software maintenance while following quality, safety and process requirements and guidelines. Provide expertise input into roadmaps and component strategy and design Support team in identifying daily assignments and reporting progress at daily stand ups. Support software and system level test plans and verification strategies to support ongoing feature development and bug fixes. Ensure software updates do not regress the software performance by utilizing simulation software and scenarios. Update simulation software and scenarios for new features or situations encountered in testing software. Support Team planning, execution, and implementation plans.

Requirements: Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or related technical field with 4 years’ experience in software/algorithm engineering role. Experience must include:  (1) Machine Learning models and state-of-the-art applications of Machine Learning; (2) Production-level Software Standards and best practices; (3) software architecting and designing perception algorithms; (4) C++ software development and unit testing in Linux environment; (5) full system integration methods, best-practices, process and test analysis; (6) software integration methods, process, and test analysis; (7) Linux development tool chains; (8) ROS (Robot Operating System).   Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or related technical field with 6 years’ experience in software/algorithm engineering role. Experience must include (4 years with Master or 6 years with Bachelor): (1) Machine Learning models and state-of-the-art applications of Machine Learning; (2) Production-level Software Standards and best practices; (3) software architecting and designing perception algorithms; (4) C++ software development and unit testing in Linux environment; (5) full system integration methods, best-practices, process and test analysis; (6) software integration methods, process, and test analysis; (7) Linux development tool chains; (8) ROS (Robot Operating System).   

10% domestic travel.  Position located in Blacksburg, VA but eligible to work from anywhere in the U.S.
