Job Description

ServiceNow is a pioneer in innovation for enterprise software. ServiceNow Research is an expression of this desire for innovation in the field of AI. The AI Trust and governance lab is looking for a Data Scientist that has a good understanding and experience in ML but that is interested in the transparency and governance aspects of ML and AI.

You have an understanding and interest in the fields of Tech Governance, Risk Management, AI/ML, and related technologies. You enjoy reading scientific articles and attending events on the latest AI/ML/Ethics/Compliance developments, and considering what this can do for businesses across various industries.

You enjoy working collaboratively, interacting with customers and internal stakeholders, have stakeholder management skills, and the ability to naturally bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The AI Trust and Governance Lab (T&GL) is to be the trusted advisor for ServiceNow on Trust & Governance by guiding the company and its customers in their AI Strategy and Deployment through the following mechanisms:

  • Developing AI risk management and governance frameworks.
  • Conducting Applied Research on technologies that enable trustworthy AI, including AI robustness, explainability, fairness and accountability, and disseminating these technologies to ServiceNow products through Proofs of Concept and Tech Transfer Initiatives.
  • Engaging with our stakeholders within and outside of ServiceNow to communicate our efforts and outcomes, and actively promote their deployment.

As a data Scientist in the Lab you will work on the implementation of our transparency strategy such as our model and data cards program, our responsible Data set program in close collaboration with our researchers.

Under the leadership of the Trust and Governance Lab Lead you will be part of the ServiceNow Research applied labs team, tasked to develop, and futureproof AI-powered experiences for all users of the Now Platform, make workflows smarter and AI workloads more efficient and committed to making socially responsible contributions to the AI community

What you get to do in this role:

Trustworthy AI & Data is a multi-disciplinary area, bridging the fields of machine learning and data science with law, psychology, design, etc. You will be part of a growing inter-disciplinary team with great possibilities to develop in the area and advance your career.

  • Collaborate with product managers and software engineers to understand the business needs for transparency tooling.
  • Develop in close collaboration with Product managers and engineers innovative transparency tools.
  • Analyze data sources and their access, identify their risks and limitations in their uses.
  • Research, develop, validate, models; perform hands-on data analysis and modeling with large datasets during the process.
  • Write scientific articles on collaboration with researchers on the topics of AI trustworthiness
  • Communicate results, findings, discoveries or new knowledge to stakeholders throughout the process
  • Research, explore, and enable new quantitative techniques and technologies in data science.
  • Support various governance initiatives and reviews of AI and data products.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of AI trustworthiness training and awareness-raising initiatives.
  • Support other ongoing projects and initiatives in the AI Trust &Governance Lab

 

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you have:

  • 1+ years of experience in a commercial setting:
  • A true passion for shaping the future of Trustworthy AI in an enterprise setting.
  • At the minimum a master’s degree in data science, machine learning, statistics or maths or similar with strong interest in the social, ethical, and legal dimensions of AI and data.
  • Demonstrated ability to code machine learning algorithms
  • Experience evaluating new machine learning models
  • Strong background in statistics, probability, and machine learning
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to explain models in simple terms to a broader audience
  • Experience with Classification, Similarity, Clustering, Regression, NLP
  • Experience with Document processing technologies is a plus
  • Strong educational background in a quantitative discipline (BS or equivalent required; MS/PhD preferred)
