Job Type:                    Full Time

Duties: Conduct research into fundamental computer and information science as theorists, designers, or inventors. Define, design and develop algorithms and software in projects that involve research and software development in Machine Learning. Train and support operational team to operate and troubleshoot the existing platform. Conduct quantitative analytics for use in a variety of areas related to advertising technology including applications such as user modeling and profiling, user targeting, user recommendation, product recommendation, and media and content analysis. Build out data sets and models using Machine Learning techniques for testing and production. Conduct data analysis, including feature engineering, to gain a deep understanding of raw source data and derived data from both consumer and product level data. Conduct original research in the fields of Machine Learning and recommender systems. Perform software architecture design and development in a highly scalable and distributed computing environment for productionization at scale of machine learning algorithms and models for use in advertising technology. Supervise a summer intern on research projects critical for expanding the capability of the platform; Mentor junior colleagues to help them understand and use methods and techniques of the existing platform. Lead projects including integration of technologies by collaborating with teams, organizational stakeholders, and contributors to bring research to production and enhance the capability of the existing platform.

Requirements: Employer will accept a Ph.D in Computer Science, Statistics, Linguistics, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Physics, Operations Research, or a related scientific discipline, or a related field, or a related field followed by one year of experience in the job offered or one of experience in a related occupation. Experience must include one year of experience in each of the following:

  1. Recommendation system algorithms: Matrix Factorization, Factorization Machines, Stochastic Gradient Descent Online Learning, X also Y Recommendation, and Collaborative Filtering.
  2. Unsupervised machine learning algorithms: K-means Clustering.
  3. Dimensionality reduction algorithms: Principal Component Analysis.
  4. Feature engineering techniques: Missing Data Imputation, Mean Imputation, Median Imputation, Logarithmic Transformation, Min-Max Scaling, Standardization Scaling, Removing outliers, Date and Time Engineering.
  5. Model performance evaluation and measures techniques: Root Mean Square Error, Confusion Matrix, Precision, Recall, F1-score, NR-score, True Positive, False Positive, True Negative, and False Negative
  6. Data analysis methods: A/B testing, Time Series Analysis, Quantitative Analysis, Data Sampling, and Regression Analysis
  7. Database programming languages and tools: SQL, PostgreSQL, HIVE, Spark, and DbVisualizer
  8. Programming languages: Scala, Python, and Spark
  9. Data Structures and Algorithms
  10. Software testing: Unit Testing, Integration Testing, and Production/Release Testing
  11. Distributed computing: Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, and Apache Hive
  12. Version control tools: Git and Bamboo
  13. Tools and software: VIM, Linux Operating System, IntelliJ IDEA, and FileZilla

Must be available to work on projects at various, unanticipated sites throughout the United States.
