POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Data Science Production Engineer owns and delivers data analysis solutions to manage daily operations for Natera’s core products and algorithms

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Provide data analysis support to laboratory operations

  • Track ongoing product performance metrics and investigate any variations

  • Drive anomaly detection efforts and produce high-quality documentation

  • Interface with cross-functional teams within the company, including lab operations and software engineering. Be the "go-to" person for data and algorithms issues

  • This role works with PHI on a regular basis both in paper and electronic form and has access to various technologies to access PHI to perform the job

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, engineering, computer science or equivalent (Master’s degree preferred)

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in data analysis and modeling

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in data analysis using Python/R

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with a database query language such as SQL

  • Solid understanding of various statistical concepts (anomaly detection, hypothesis testing, time series analysis), probability theory, and machine learning

 

Desirable but not required: 

  • Previous exposure to, or experience with, PCR amplification and next-generation sequencing analysis

  • Experience with process validations for data science pipelines

  • Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA/Confluence)

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Good project management and communication skills

  • Desire to learn about human genetics and sequencing technologies

  • Knowledge of data science lifecycle
