Essential Job Functions:Primary job function is research software development of machine learning algorithms for autonomous mobile ground platforms, with emphasis on computer vision/perception. Must be able to operate in dynamic research environment utilizing agile software and hardware prototype development teams. Tasks will include basic research and development, and the definition, development, and integration of software modules/algorithms. The successful applicant will participate across small and medium sized teams, performing continuous integration, data capture, machine/reinforcement learning training, sub-system test, and overall system test in simulation and on real-vehicles. Experience Desired:Essential: software engineering for autonomous systems or similar complex vehicle systems (e.g. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), familiarity with simulation integration, training, and testing for autonomy. Primary development is in Python and C++. Knowledge of machine learning, and experience with autonomous systems sensors such as cameras, LIDAR, radar, IMUs, GPS, etc.  Experience with adversarial attacks on SOA ML/AI systems is a plus. Experience with small team software development operations is desired. Knowledge Desired:Background in the following areas: Machine Learning, Python, PyTorch, and computer vision (mahotas, skimage, OpenCV, etc.). Familiar with SOA computer vision algorithms/models. Desired knowledge of architectures and AV software stacks for ground, air, or underwater autonomous vehicles, software systems and development methods, and methods for training and testing in simulation and with real platforms. The ideal candidate will have some understanding of the challenges and potential approaches involved to assure the safety of autonomous systems.  Education Desired:MS or Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, EE, Robotics, Applied Math, Physics, or related fields. Essential Physical/Mental Requirements:Good communication (verbal and written) skills, active participation in R & D team activities is required. Special Requirements:Must be a US Person.
Compensation:The base salary range for this full-time position is $87,000 - $145,000 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed reflect the base salary only, and do not include potential bonus or benefits.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
