About Our Internships 

2K’s summer internships are paid internship opportunities, 10 weeks long, focused on both functional and professional growth. Internships include weekly learning sessions with senior leadership, networking opportunities, and fun and engaging projects that have real-world impact. 

2K’s summer internship program runs June through August at our 2K Publishing HQ in Novato, California. The internship program is open to all U.S residents who are students at the time of internship. The pace is fast, the atmosphere is fun, and we’ll push and challenge you to learn and grow beyond anything you’d expect. It’s truly a unique and rewarding experience.

What We Need

We are looking for someone who is intellectually curious and passionate about applying their Data Engineering skills to real-world problems to join 2K’s Data Engineering team as an intern.

An ideal candidate should be able to design and code ETL processes beginning with extraction from various source systems and apply efficient SQL transformations to achieve desired goals.

They should have had some exposure to batch and streaming data processing and visualization using any tool such as Tableau.

Candidates having a focus on Data Engineering during their course work is a plus.

What You Will Do

You will be helping us solve non-standard creative tasks that have an immediate impact on BI/Analytics teams' deliverables. The daily job consists of ETL, visualization, providing data to machine learning models and validation. Expect to gain hands-on experience with exploring massive datasets generated from our games, using popular tech stacks, tackling practical problems of bringing a data project to production.

Your internship project could focus on one of the domains such as:

  • Modernization : Transform the data pipelines and design new efficient data pipelines on the Data Engineering team.
  • Optimization : Improve the efficiency of the existing processes
  • Help create more defined ETL and Standard Data Models which will be the foundation for Aggregations.
  • Help in delivering parts of the Data Engineering vision and also develop code for calculating business metrics.
  • Visualization : Work on Operational KPIs as well as Data Quality metrics calculations and visualization for the same.

 What Will Make You a Great Fit 

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Operations Research, or other quantitative fields
  • Solid knowledge of Python and related libraries, designing and coding high volume ELT/ETL and Data Modeling concepts
  • Good command of Advanced-SQL and Optimization of SQL queries
  • Familiarity with version control tool such as git and some exposure to cloud computing services such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Quick and willing to learn new tools and techniques
  • Exposure to Spark/Flink and Interest in video games is a plus
  • BONUS POINTS for publications or open source projects
