We are looking for a Data Engineering Architect or similar experience within our marketing team to help our teams make better data-driven decisions. You work with our marketing department, engineers, and product specialists across the company to help us compile, analyze and visualize relevant data about our product and relevant market trends.

This is a brand-new position. You will have a unique opportunity to help scale the data team, build the process, as well as to be hands-on. Don’t miss it!

What you’ll do

  • Own the ongoing quality of Hubstaff prospect and customer data within Segment and HubSpot CRM including processes for hygiene, standardization and continued updates/accuracy
  • Assess the current effectiveness and accuracy of our current data collection and new data sources and data-gathering techniques with a CRM at the center (HubSpot and Segment, or other CDPexperience preferred).
  • Suggest and facilitate the transition from Segment to an open source CDP like Rudderstack or other. Own the process and ensure that all the events currently collected in Segment are collected correctly in the new CDP and integrate it with a Warehouse destination like BigQuery or Redshift.
  • Suggest and integrate with a tool that allow non-programmers to create user journey/funnel reports based on the analytics data. We are currently using Woopra but looking to move away.
  • Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging data to inform product and business decisions and marketing content and to better segment and tailor the CX.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop an initial set of best-in-class marketing, sales and product performance report types and processes to meet insights needs of the organization leadership as well as department leads. Using SQL and other programming languages such R and Python, this position will bring together and leverage data from platforms across the organization to generate reports and findings for both research needs to guide decision making as well as to feed the organization’s thought leadership via mining our customer data. Responsible for proposing and implementing new and updated reports over time.
  • Immediately take ownership and execution of the data architecture and API development for a new marketing data warehouse (BigQuery or RedShift). Note that this capability will be in addition to the Google Looker Dashboards currently managed by our Marketing Data Analyst which provides funnel conversion vs. target at each phase of the funnel and standard filters by source, content, etc. Collaboration with our Marketing Data Analyst will be critical to success.
  • Work directly with marketing data analysts to provide technical support for their work in Google Looker - leading and adjusting current and new data integrations from the martech stack to enable ongoing improvements in analysis.
  • Help the data team to grow, plan and prioritize their initiatives for maximum impact across the company.
  • Together with experienced engineers on the team, architect and build our data engineering infrastructure for long-term sustainability and success.
  • Proactively suggest new types of data that provide relevant insights to the product/business/marketing team.
  • Proactively observe and present trends and new insights to the wider team.
  • Ensure easy access to relevant data trends for all team members.

Requirements

What You Should Have:

  • You have at least three (3) years of relevant experience in a similar role with at least regular collaboration with marketing and the associated marketing technology stack. Previous SaaS experience will be highly factored into evaluation.
  • Someone hands-on, who can identify issues, but also help propose and even do some coding to fix the issues.
  • You are obsessed with numbers and a strong believer in data-driven decision making
  • Familiarity with the following software/tools: Ruby/Python, JavaScript
  • Proficiency in querying databases and using statistical computer languages (SQL, GraphQL, Pandas, etc.)
  • Experience analyzing data from 3rd-party providers (firmagraphic and buyer intent data experience preferred)
  • Experience with tracking tools/capabilities: Google Analytics, Segment.com, HubSpot CRM
  • You are familiar with A/B testing and its benefits.
  • Experience visualizing/presenting data for stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills for coordinating across teams and key stakeholders
  • Experience working with and creating data architectures
  • A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with an emphasis on product development.
  • Self-motivated and proactive team player, yet also able to multi-task and work independently.
